Here I go again, its time to start planning for next year. As I have said numerous times my children love BJU..... We are reaching 7th grade next year and are going to start attending our local consortium. If my children get into the classes I would like them to be in then they will have grammar, math, art, spanish, writing and maybe science. The science class would be a repeat class but they are begging me to take it.

I am considering using Kono's next year to pick up any gaps..... Especially history......

    Has anyone used Kono's????
I can't have anything to labor intensive for me since I work outside the home 6-7 hours a day.
I do like to be involved but I do need them to have their independence.
    Suggestions please???

The consortium is a local co-op where you can bring your children twice a week and drop them off for classes. Most of the teachers have their Phd's. Its a fantastic program and they actually get credits for the classes.

Konos looks very hands on and labor intensive. I looked at it and went to a couple of talks on it a convention a few years ago. A great idea but very project heavy imo.

If they are doing all of that at your group what would you be looking to do at home?

Well I was thinking of doing the Konos where she does the teaching. You know how she gives the example of cakes?
Making them from scratch, buying a box, buying a cake at the store, and then having the cake delivered. I was going to go with having the cake delivered. But when I went to check out a sample lesson it looked like it was more at an elementary level. I know that she says you can add things to it for the older kids. Yea, see that is why i wanted my cake delivered. I am looking to keep my children home but to lighten my load. I am getting completely exhaused working outside the home 6-7hours a day and homeschooling them and then on the weekends keeping up with my house. By the time January comes around I am ready to drop. I am thinking that its not going to work and we will stay with our tried and true BJU for History. Then I was thinking of switching to Apologia General Science. Have you used that??? How hard is it?? I have the first edition that someone gave me. I noticed you could buy extra supplies for the first addition so I assume all is well.

I have only used the CD version of APoligia Biology which we (dd)hated, and the Exploring AStronomy book that ds and I loved! Which is also Apologia, I am also looking at the general science one, but not sure because he really needs a Biology , and I don't want that one... so not sure if that helped? lol

I read through the Apologia last night, actually I think the one I have is a repeat of what we are doing this year. That keeps happening to me.

My mother called me tonight and told me not to count on her for next year because she wants to start traveling..... Yea..... I really don't mean that sarcastically. But it changes my year. I think she should go but that means I have to change everything again.

So again I will probably stick with the tried and true BJU for most everything. I haven't tried it for math but thinking of repeating pre-algebra next year and stopping the saxon after this year and doing that for a year.
