Well I did it for 6 years and loved it. Being away from my girls were never something that went through my mind, if we need time we had our rooms we went too, no different then a house. Go in the room shut the door and take a break. When you go to the bathroom shut and lock door, works great.
I would do it again, love it.

Still currently doing it and LOVING every minute of it! We have no intention of stopping any time soon. The items that Scottie mentioned are just not and issue for us. We are currently in our 6th year of full-timing and homeschooling. I have no problem spending time with my kids, i really like them. I make private or quiet time for myself a priority, I make it happen.

Some of the other points that she mentioned, you DO NOT spend your winters in the northeast. You go where it is warm. TX, FL, AZ, and southern CA are great places to spend the winter.

Intimacy with DH is not an issue either, they have to sleep some time, don't they?

Of course they plummet in value, that is just the way it works. I recommend doing a lot of research first and making sure you make a good investment and get exactly what you want and will use for a long time.

We are in the process of searching for our third 5th whee that we hope to purchase next spring.

Our work keeps us traveling and full-timing, so income is not an issue for us, we own a small business.

Please check out my blog below that talks about our travels.

I hope we have answered some of your questions, please feel free to PM me about anything at all.

Timkelmom I was hoping that you would respond. I haven't seen you on in a while. Although I wasn't on most the summer (very busy). Glad to see your post.

I wouldn't mind doing this if I could maybe traveling for a month and then being home for a month..this way we aren't all couped up in a small motor home all the time....though I've never traveled in a motor home so I might like it so much I never want to stop...though how would you homeschool that way what state would you register in?

Thanks. I have been a bit busy myself and have not been on a lot lately. Happy to "see" you too.

we still own a home that we rent to family and run a business out of the ATL area in GA. That is the state we use for most things.

It would be a little more difficult if we did not do it that way, but there are ways.

Hey Birbitt. We still have a house in Texas even though we are full time Rving. So we just use that address. If we needed to however we could use the mailing address our mail service provided us, which is also in Texas. My husband's job plans on taking us to Colorado soon but that's just a temp thing. Homeschooling I think is really easy while you travel. My kids have learned and seen so much. I really think of it as a blessing to be able to share the world with them like this. It's nice to read what everyone has posted concerning rving, the good and the bad lol.

I don't want to sugar coat anything with my experience because I know how lonely it can be. My husband works and I usually know no one. I once tried to join a rally that was taking place at a park we were in but that went sour even just in the first visit. It was not the enviroment needed for my kids and me. My kids don't have a chance to make and keep friends to often because we have moved so much. I love being around my kids so that doesn't bother me at all. I don't feel trapped having to be with them so much. I think this experience really has brought us closer. Well just my two cents for what it's worth lol.

    Later!

JM, I don't know how long you have been doing this or how long you intend to. I don't know much about your kids since you are new.

I want to welcome you here. Especially since I am doing exactly what you are doing, full-timing and home schooling. We move very often as well. I am happy to "meet" someone who does something similar. In 6 years I have never met another home schooling, full-timing family.

Please feel free to PM or e-mail me anytime with questions, suggestions, or anything at all.

What kind of RV do you have? We do you normally travel? I am very interested, really! Please feel free to check out my Family on the Road thread as well as my blog.

Welcome to HSpot! I am glad you found us!

We aren't full-timers yet, but we hope to be in the next few years. We bought our first pop-up camper five years ago simply for comfort during a weeklong music festival and fell in love with the lifestyle. If you haven't travelled in an RV before, I definitely encourage you to borrow or rent one a few times before buying. That way you'll know what features you really need before buying. You may also figure out that you're not cut out for the road and need to stick to long vacations.

As for income while on the road, we've found many options. You could run a business (like many vendors at homeschool conventions), work at a campground, or take temporary jobs along the way. I know a family that carefully saved and sold everything so they could go on the road for a year without an income. When the year was up, they started a business based on what they learned (Lewis & Clark trail) and now travel the homeschool circut.

    Good luck in your quest!
