vertices

    can anyone explain vertices to me so I can explain them to 10/11 yr old children please? Thanks in advance,Carmel

    Sure, I teach 5th grade so I explain these often! A vertice is simply a corner in a solid figure (space figure). It is the point at which two or more endpoints meet. (The line segment where two faces meets is called the edge.) The vertex is just the corner. I have my kids touch and count the vertices and edges in solid figure samples.

    MARSHMELLOW or gum drop vertices!!!

    You use toothpicks and gumdrops or marshmellows, peas, raisins for the VERTICES!

    Make the models starting with for example a cube is SQUARES and then the squares are connected. If you give them a PAPER model and they can create their own!!
