Do any of you use or know about Watkins products? I was thinking about becoming a part of their company, but before I invest money I wanted to get some honest opinions.

    Thanks,

    Susan

I think they've got some good stuff though I honesty don't use it much. We've got some Petro-carbo Salve that I swear by. I can put it on anything, and it will clear it up. My ds was picking a place on his face, and finally I decided to put this stuff on it. It was cleared up in two days. (Plus he doesn't like the smell on his fingers, so he keeps his hands away from it!) My DD had an infected finger, which she screamed anytime I touched. I put some on, and it pulled the infection right out to where I didn't have to take a needle to it.

Oh I love that Petro Salve. Works wonders on everything even diaper rash. Worked great when my dad got burned by an exploding radiator. But the only place I know where to get it is at this fair.

I only use their vanilla, and find it to be far superior than anything you get in the grocery store.

Even my grandmother swore by it ... and she was from the "old school" where they used the real thing in everything. I brought her some to try after I discovered it, and she loved it.

Thank you for getting back to me so fast! I'm reluctant to get into selling but with good reviews on some of the products that help out. Just as long as I don't have to do cold calls. Don't know who it was yesterday but someone called unavailable was talking to my kitchen fan for a while before they realized I wasn't there  . Seems that call block thing I signed up for isn't working so well :x . Grip - grip - grumble - grumble.

OUCH!!!! That happened to my dad one time, I still don't know why in the world he opened up the cap to a hot radiator. The water hit him then flew 20 feet in the air. You would think that a military man who spent many years on a sub would know the dangers of steam under pressure  .

YEah you'd think having it happen once would be enough but the man actually has had two radiators blow up on him. I learned my lesson the first time it happened when I was 16 and narrowly avoided scarring up my face.

I am glad to know that I can get this stuff anytime I want not just once a year. I never realized it was available online. I thought it was just something this one stand sells at the fair every year.

I thought the only time you could buy it was at the flea market, but that burned down about five years ago and the woman who sold it moved to another area too far for me to get. Other than that I find it at the craft store but their prices are outrageous! If I start selling I get a discount on the things that I buy. But considering my family just ticked me off and put themselves into boxed meals for a while as opposed to homemade I don't know exactly what good it will do me right now, discount or not. But I think I'm going to give it a try. Probably next week will be when I order my start up kit, can't sell something if you don't know what you are selling.

So glad you're interested in Watkins! I'm an Independent Associate myself, and I really love it. Have you signed up already? Do you have a sponsor? I would be glad to help you if you need a sponsor or if you have any questions. Yes, ladies, all their products are great, and the company has a great long-standing reputation.

If anyone wants to e-mail me a question about a products, please feel free to do so. If you or anyone you know would like to know more about having their own home-based business, just visit my site or e-mail me with any questions.

    Have a great weekend!

Hi, I'm going to sign up in about two weeks. I wanted to do it this week, but I got an unexpected bill for some text books. Wouldn't you know it just happened to be the $50 I needed to get started  . I might just take the money out of the bank, not sure yet, I really need to let that money sit where it is. Never know when the next hurricane is going to come this way. My sponser is Rick Stanley.

Since you are already in this company how do you go about selling the products? There are a lot of peddlers around here selling this and that, I don't want to be like them, they are annoying, I don't want to be annoying. I wanted to do more with online that direct selling. The area I live in the dollar store is more likely the place to buy spices and whatnot than Watkins. There are a few places that I have thought about putting catalogs out at, but that is about it.

    Thanks,

    Susan

Susan, I understand you not wanting to be out "peddling". But I WOULD let your friends know you're doing this. Many people are familiar with the products, and you might be surprised how many will actually ask you if they knew you were selling. I know my MIL would buy quite a bit if she knew someone near by that sold.

I'll let people know, I just want to do it in a more polite way than other people around here do things. It's really rude to be walking the drug store and having people yelling at you to buy their DVD (bootleg) or perfume (smells like cow butts). Funny thing is after 12 years they still get upset when I tell them no.

Susan, what a small world! Rick Stanley is just above me in the group I'm in. As far as the "selling" goes, please don't sweat that at all. Believe me, Watkins sells itself. You will purchase some Watkins items to use yourself over the next few months, get familiar with the products, and as people ask you what you like and why, you will be able tell them. The group we are in (that you will be signing up with), has so much on-line training and information that you can learn as much as you would ever want to know. I'll look forward to seeing your name in the future. As some of the others have said, many people remember Watkins and want their products. Quality really does matter on some things and people who have used Watkins want to keep using it. Best of luck to you on your new future business.

    Info Regarding Watkins

Well, where do I start? The Watkins Company was founded in the 1868 by J. R. Watkins from Winona, Minnesota. He compounded and bottled a liniment to relieve aches and pains. It was used by his friends and neighbors and became so popular that he established the company. Watkins has always been known for their high-quality medicinal products - salves for cuts, burns, insect bites, etc. They are very well-known as well for their Double-Strength Vanilla, made from Madagascar Vanilla Beans (once you use this vanilla, the others seem so "yuck"). They have four product lines, described as "Pantry", " "Keeping House", "Medicine Chest", and "Indulgences." They have wonderful cleaning products (I'm amazed at their toilet bowl cleaner, and I've heard people rave about their degreaser and laundry detergents, but I haven't used those yet). The company is very dedicated to using the best, purest ingredients, and a lot of their items are all-natural botanical type products. Their dietary supplements are really good as well. Sorry to go on-and-on, it's hard to give a short answer. If you ask around, you will find people who say, "Oh, yes, my grandmother used to buy Watkins products when I was a little girl," or "I remember the Watkins man coming to the house when I was growing up." It really is a great company to be associated with - they were the first company to ever offer a 100% money-back guarantee. If anyone is curious about having your own home business with Watkins, just e-mail me or visit my web site, and I can get more info to you.

That is wild. It really is a small world isn't it. I'm relaxing a bit about the selling issue. I contacted the local library and got a number of a woman who I need to take to about putting some information up at their local "information" table. There are a lot of local attraction type of things around there so I wanted to know if maybe I could add something of my own. I'll be calling Monday to find out what I can do. If I can't go that route there are some local heath-food stores that I can look into, some of the new age stores let people advertise some things in their stores. Something will work out.

Yes, Susan, slow and steady wins the race (I just read the Tortoise and the Hare to the my kids). I was reminded that just working consistently and steadily is what builds a business (or anything for that matter). You will come up with creative ideas and even learn more as you go on-line to the training and advice areas. As I said before, Watkins products are sought out by people and used by many, so it's not like you're really have to try to "sell." As one woman at my church told me, "Watkins sells itself."
