I'm still swimming--almost every day for 3 weeks now! Yesterday, I decided to try a swim workout posted at the pool. I had just been swimming some laps and doing some kick sets. I have the skills for the fitness set, but I wasn't sure if I was in good enough shape for it. I made it, and I did it again today--swam 2300 yds total.

I'm doing pretty well with water. It's so hot here, and I've been keeping bottles with me everywhere I go. I'm not focusing on the weight. I can't let myself get discouraged. I know the exercise is needed!

I am still in a stall and can't figure out what to do other than wait it out. I REALLY want to see the numbers go down soon. I feel great and have so much more energy. I need to get more walking in though. I need to ask Freddy to go over my bicyle and see if it is still safe to ride. It has been sitting for a long time so it may need work. I love riding but never get it out for some reason. Hmmm? Lazy owner perhaps? I will work on that!

I have to wear this protective boot on my leg for three months while the bone heals from the stress damage I caused. It stops me from walking, which is a real nuisance. I'm trying to get to the gym to use the exercise bikes, but I've been traveling too much recently. These are the times when perseverance is really needed!

Every time I try to do a "diet" type thing, I end up not being able to stick to it.. I never see any weight loss, but as soon as I start eating my "normal" foods again, I GAIN... GRRRR.. So I stear clear of the "don't eat this" type of things.. I KNOW I can't stick to them, and I know what happens when I finally cave... We don't really eat that bad anyway.. I could cut down on my bread intake and that would help. Stay away from the rolls at Chicken Express.. Oh, those are my WEAKNESS.. If I could just keep myself moving and drink more water I would feel better and I'm sure I would loose some weight.

Yesterday we had a family dinner at my father in law's home. I did okay with it and didn't gain, but I did eat a piece of his famous pound cake. He is 85 and makes his own pound cakes. People at his church beg for them when they have dinners or fundraisers! He loves for the family to come and fuss over who gets the first or last piece. Today's goal is to stay within my calorie limit. I went a little over twice this week and I don't need to start that! Drinking the water is easier since the heat is getting worse. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I really tried hard to stay on track yesterday and this morning my efforts were rewarded with a two pound drop! I was thrilled and only five more pounds and my BMI will be back in the normal range! Tomorrow's goal will be water water water!

Okay, I've been in and out of here for months. I have to get serious!!!!

    I weighed myself this a.m. and I'm 196.4 . I'm 5'8"...so I don't LOOK horrible. But I need to lose weight.

My first goal is in 2 months we're going on a beach vacation. So I'm going to aim for 20 lbs by September 1st.

I've done pretty well lately eating and "maintaining" where I am. But I definitely eat too many sweets, and drink too much soda. I've DRASTICALLY reduced my soda - about 3 weeks ago, I went almost cold turkey. Now, I only allow myself to have it when I'm out. It is not allowed in the house.

    Help me!!! LOL :)

MAJOR SET BACK!!! I thought I was doing pretty good, because I FINALLY got below 160 for three days in a row!

So today, I had to go in and have my weight/height/BP/waist measurement formally documented by a certified medical person. And it turns out that the scales at home are TEN POUNDS OFF!!! As in TEN POUNDS MORE! So instead of being just under 160, I weigh 170.3. I am NOT a happy camper!!!

My doctor's scales weigh different from ours at home. It makes me crazy! I am sort of in a stall again but it is my fault. I am not drinking enough water and I can't go walk at the track. I walk way more there than I do on the treadmill. It has rained for 17 days straight and the track is a mess. Okay, enough excuses. I will try to get off to a good start in the morning!

I knew they would probably be off a little, but TEN POUNDS!!! I was SO discouraged!!! We've also had the rain here, plus my friend is on vacation. She and I walk nearly every day at least once, sometimes twice, and DH and I try to go around the block in the evening. It's so cute, because we walk with her kids. Susie in 14 months, and Jesse just turned three. She will wait on the sidewalk with Susie and the stroller, and send Jesse up to the door. He will knock, and then ask, "Miss Jackie, do you want to go for a walk?" When we finish, he always walks me to the door and thanks me for walking with them. Whenever I leave his house, he likes to walk me part way home to Mr. Tony's driveway (next door to him...the limit of how far he can go by himself with Mom standing at the door).

Jackie, You little neighbor sounds so sweet! We used to have a little boy on our street who would come to the door and ask my mother if my daddy could come out and play. If Daddy was not feeling like it she would say, "I'm sorry, Bob can't play this evening." Daddy didn't have the heart to say no himself so he made Mama do it.

I have really been sticking to my plan and this week I have lost two more pounds. I am now at 172! In 2007 I was at 274.6 and had gastric bypass. I got down to 174.6 and then our son went into the Army and my weight crept back up to 218. I looked into a weight loss program at the doctor's office and started it late in Feb. and am very pleased with my progress. I feel so much better and actually feel better now than I did when I lost so much the first time. I don't know how much more I want to lose but I don't think I am ready to stop and just maintain. I wear size 12 jeans now which I NEVER fit into before. I see my doctor again early in Aug. and we will see what she thinks. I really need to walk more this week. The rain is making that hard and the treadmill gets boring. No excuses though. Walk and drink that water is my goal for today.

Beth, we weigh just about the same. My official weight is 170.3. I cleaned out my room recently, and put a whole bunch of really nice summer pants, size 12, into a tub. NONE of them fit me anymore!!! My goal is to be back in them by next summer.

Jackie, How tall are you? I say I am 5'8" and I honestly used to be taller. I am afraid I am actually under 5'8" now because I have noticed I am having trouble reaching things around here that I could reach last year. The doctor told me four years ago that I was getting shorter with age but I kept thinking she were wrong. About 20 years ago I was almost 5' 9.5". I like the shrinking waist line but not the shrinking height!

I'm 5'5", (just a quarter inch taller than Rachael!!!). Both my mom and her mom had osteoporosis, so I do take calcium pills. I had my bone density checked a few years back, and was told they were comparable to a 16yo!

Yoga and Pilates will give you some of your length back (I know this for a fact from when I was doing the cancer research project and taking measurements. People would come in and say they were "XX" tall and they would actually measure taller because of the yoga/pilates they were doing. Neat huh?

I weighed a couple of days ago and was down about 2 lbs. I'm still trying not to stress about the actual weight and work on being healthier in general.

Hello everyone! I don't remember where I was at last time I posted, but I've lost more. I'm down 26 pounds total this year, making me very close to my half-way point! Whoot! My new goal is 33 pounds to lose.
