I am a bit late but I would love to join too! I am currently at 178.6 and my goal is to lose 50 pounds. My weekly goals are to drink 64 oz of water a day, exercise for at least 30 minutes 6X a week, and the hardest on for me... cut sugar out of my diet. I am a sugaraholic so that one will be HARD. I don't drink soda, it's the candy, ice cream, and other treats. I guess if I stop buying it, it won't be in the house. So really it's my fault! :)

I started exercising 2 days ago and it feels so good! However, I did an upper body workout yesterday and my arms, pecs, and shoulders hurt so bad this morning that I am having trouble typing. I guess I overdid myself.

My exercise routines include walking and strength training. If it's too cold outside or weather is bad I will do the Just Dance workouts instead of walking.

I guess I didn't post my goals in my first post. For now, I am just watching my portion size, because I am more of an emotional over-eater. I haven't cut out junk completely because it has never worked for me in the past. I end up doing good for a few weeks, then I binge and give up. So for my first phase of weight loss, I'm eating smaller amounts of food, slowly. I'm also doing a few substitutions like yogurt for a snack and tofu noodles for pasta. I know the processed bars aren't the healthiest, but I don't have the time to make a lot of stuff right now, so I have some protein bars for when we are on the go and may be tempted to eat fast food.

Because I'm trying to recover from chronic illness, I"m pretty weak. So, I'm doing short amounts of exercise like squats when I'm drying my hair and some other things I can get up and do during commercial breaks in the evening. My muscle tone flew south long ago.....will be adding more strength training later.

Okay, I am about 149-151 and would like to lose about 15 pounds.

I was upto about 170 -175 and got 20 off about 3 years back and have kept at about 158 for these years. I just lost 8 pounds from being sick and want to take advantage of the head start and get another 15.

Soda is my biggest weakness and assorted carbs beyond that. I am at risk for diabetes and have high triglycerieds. I need to get the extra body fat off. It is the single most important thing I can do to shift my metabolism and insulin resistance in the right direction.

My biggest weakness is bread. I could eat it all day. I mostly drink water. Oh and tea. Soda is pretty rare. Although I usually have one coffee a day. I should break that habit. It used to be rare but now it's daily. I told myself when the last bag is used up, I'm not buying any more. Tea is not a big deal because I drink that with nothing in it, but coffee I load up with sugar and cream.

But the bread. Oh boy. I don't know how to break that habit. I should eat oatmeal for breakfast, yogurt for lunch, and fruit and veggies for snacks. But I absolutely crave bread.

And exercising. Grrr. I like riding my bike, but the cold weather is rather off-putting. I have an elliptical machine but it's so boring. But today I'll do it anyway.

Today is my birthday, so I get to make a new year resolution. And it's this: I will aim to exercise every single day.

According to my scale, I'm down 3.4 lbs since the beginning of February. That's when I first recorded my weight. The past 4 days were spent watching my daughters compete in the state swim meet, so I got no exercise and drank way too much (diet) soda. I did pretty well at watching what I ate though.

This week I am trying to get into a better exercise routine and drink more water. I'm also going to try to be more consistent with tracking exactly what I eat.

I went up .4 pounds. I am a stress eater and of course always reach for candy. This week was super stresful for me and not only was I loading up on sugar but I noticed I had no patience with my kids either.

I did drink a lot more water than I usually do. And I did exercise 5 days last week. Those are the positives. This week I will continue to exercise and everytime I reach for a treat I will try to grab a fruit or veggie instead.

Bad week for me! We've been fighting colds, and had things going on. Very little exercising done, very little water or eating right. Weight at 164.

Okay, so I weighed myself last Wednesday after I posted on Tuesday but didn't update.

Sadly, my starting weight was 142.10.
    Today's weight is 140.6.

I exercised three days last week. Not much, but an accomplishment for me considering weather.

I need to focus on drinking more water. I find this difficult during the colder months.

I still weigh 150.. This was a VERY bad week for me! We were running all week last week with dr appointments and such. I ate lots of junk that I shouldn't have.. I did NO exercise and drank VERY little water.. Had lots of soda too.. I saw a picture of me from a few years ago and I was SKINNY!! I want to be there again!!! I think I'm a stress eater.. I eat because I am stressed, not because I am hungry.. And it's SWEETS I crave.. I'm going to try and change that fram of mind to fruit and veggies.. I LOVE those little charub tomatos.. YUMMM! BUT WITH RANCH!! And that is LOADED with calories..

    This week I will
    Record what I eat
    Drink more water
    EXERCISE

Anyone know how to get rid of cravings of sugary sweets?? Particularly chocolate?? I am NOT going to be able to do this if I can't curve this major craving of sweets. Today I caved and got a molten fudge cake from sonic.. I think I ate about 1million calories.. GRRR.. I'm stressed beyond belief and I notice that i crave more when I'm stressed..

I'm down one more pound, making it 9 total. So, 50 more to go. I was pretty stressed this week too, so I did a lot of mindless eating. The kids just were at each other constantly, driving me batty. But the weather has been nice and we managed to take two walks and go sledding.

No. I know of absolutely no way to get rid of the craving. So, instead, I try to manage it. I buy the 100 calorie packs of chocolate covered pretzels. They are not much, so I try to really enjoy it as I eat it. I eat them at a certain quiet time every afternoon.

The only method that has worked for me in the past is complete removal, which is not very practical. Sugar makes you crave more sugar. When I completely remove all refined sugar, breads, and the like for at least 1-2 weeks, I lose all sugar cravings. I've gone several months this way before, but all it takes is one piece of birthday cake or some other treat that I eat at someone's house (trying not to be rude) will send me right back on the sugar cycle.

This time around, I'm not denying myself anything, just trying to allow myself small treats here and there. The temporary denial and guilt always makes me binge more, where telling myself it is okay to have a cookie today and a piece of pumpkin bread tomorrow seems to help. Not letting myself get too hungry helps as well, because when I get really hungry, I'll eat anything in sight! Now I don't foresee myself losing any dramatic amounts of weight this way, like 5 pounds a week or something, but I'm going for slow, steady, and sustainable this round.

I think the more I exercise, the healthier decisions I will make in my food choices.. At least I hope so.. I know today after walking 3 miles with Leslie :) I chose healthier foods.. I was really upset at subway today when I took my son out during his school lunch break.. I ordered tuna on wheat.. no cheese.. Only spinach and cucumbers and a LITTLE bit of LIGHT mayo.. The lady put a TON of the REAL STUFF on there.. I couldn't get it off because the tuna had already soaked it all in GRRRRR .. They were busy and I didn't want to hold up the line.. Guess I should have said something.. I felt like the exercise I did this morning was all for nothing after eating that.. I didn't even eat it all..
