I LIKE "Comfy Couch"!!! I think it's a great name!!!

My frog paper starts off with "Ever feel like a frog?" and then goes on explaining the "frog" feeling...when we want to be generous, but are selfish, when we're down on ourselves, when we're just having one of those (all-too-familiar) "human" days when nothing goes right, etc. How we've all found ourselves feeling like a frog, floating down the lily pad of life (or some such line....)

Then it goes on about how there was once a frog, who wasn't really a frog, but a handsome prince. A wicked witch had turned him into a frog; only the kiss of a beautiful princess would change him back. But since when does cute chicks kiss frogs? So there he sat, unkissed prince in frog form. But miracles do happen. One day, he's kissed, turns into prince, lives happily ever after.

Then it ends with a question: So what's the purpose of the church? To kiss frogs, of course!

(Sorry I can only give you the idea. If anyone finds it, PLEASE let me know!!!)

    YAY for google ;)

You ever feel like a frog? Frogs feel slow, low, ugly, puffy, drooped, pooped. I know -- one told me. The frog feeling comes when you want to be bright but feel dumb, when you want to share but are selfish, when you want to be thankful but feel resentment, when you want to be great but are small, when you want to care but are indifferent. Yes, at one time or another each of us has found himself on a lily pad, floating down the great river of life. Frightened and disgusted, we're too froggish to budge.

Once upon a time there was a frog, only he really wasn't a frog -- he was a prince who looked and felt like a frog. A wicked witch had cast a spell on him. Only the kiss of a beautiful maiden could save him. But since when do cute chicks kiss frogs? So there he sat, unkissed prince in frog form. But miracles happen. One day a beautiful maiden gathered him up and gave him a great big smack. Crash! Boom! Zap! There he was, a handsome prince. And you know the rest -- they lived happily ever after.

So what is the task of the church? Kissing frogs, of course! That is what Jesus is saying to us, isn't it? "Love one another."

I think we need a homeschool name too.

We were in wal-mart the other day and my Sami started talking to another little girl. The other girl said "Are you in PreSchool or kindergarden?" Sami answered "Kindergarden!" other girl "You are too little to go to kindergarden!" Sami: "I am NOT!" other girl: "really? Then what school do you go to?" Sami : "KINDERGARDEN!"

We are Academy on the Rock.

We chose this name for several reasons. The most important is bc we want our girls to build their whole lives on the Rock of salvation. Also, we want the girls to make joyful noises to the Lord. My honey is the drummer for our church's praise team and my mom is one of the pianists. We are a very musical family and they are all very talented (from what we can tell thus far).

I have enjoyed reading your names. :D

    Hi all,
I'm having trouble trying to figure out what I should call the student I homeschool! You're all so lucky that you can write my ds this, my ds that... I guess 'my student' it is, until I figure out a way to shorten it :) One of my previous highschool teachers used to call us his little cabbages... I've always liked that.

Maybe then I'll move on to naming our school unfortunately, my student has no interest in naming it with me, so I'm free to go ahead and do it myself right?

Your names are all wonderful and so creative! Thanks for sharing.

I thought I posted this, but we are Brewer Academy. The girl at the post office ribs my husband every day over it.

    Oh, they think it's cute.
There's one lady in town who is very disgusted with us, though. One teacher magazine got our address wrong, sending it to her house instead of ours. Well, you know how it goes- they sold our address and she gets a jillion teacher magazines meant for me.
There's no easy way to stop this, either, because the companies keep passing on the address and more magazines come. The post office has told her to just throw them out, which is fine with me.

Becky, in a strange way it is almost comical, but I completely understand why it would be annoying. We still get mail from the previous owners and we have lived here 4 years. I am sure it is frustrating for her though.

I like Lighthouses, so when we were picking names we decided to include it. We ended up naming our school: Lighthouse Christian Academy. I had shirts made for our family for Christmas last year with the picture of a lighthouse, the name, and under that we put the text from Matthew, I think it is, the part that says, "Let your light shine before men" We've had quite a few positive comments on it.

I've named our homeschool "Little Steps Homeschool" because we are taking little steps each day to a great education.
