To be quite honest, my girls are 12 and 14, Phillip 9, and we don't have a formal writing program! The closest thing was when I enrolled Rachael in an essay class when she was 12. This year, Faythe took Creative Writing at the co-op first semester, and is taking Report Writing this semester. But other than that....

However, when the kids were Kindergarten, I would start having them draw a picture, and I would write down their words about it. So we DO write, just not that formally.

My ds 6 (k) and he doesn't do a formal writing program but he does write letters to friends and family and also writes in a journal. He also just wrote a story for the Reading Rainbow Contest but mainly for him it is more about practicing his handwriting then anything else.

I found the WTM boards the other day, and to be honest, I was overwhelmed. I am trying to put together plans for next year (2nd grade) and my plans looked like a cake walk compared to some of those! I was wondering if I was missing something, LOL. I noticed that a lot of people over there use Writing With Ease. I looked at it, and I don't really see the point. I guess I got a little freaked that I was missing something, but I'll just continue with what we're doing since it seems to be working just fine. Now I just have to decide what grammar to use next year!
