Okay. I know you ladies are frugal like myself. We have no big name save-on-electronics stores in these parts. Where is the best place to go for a cheap, no frills digital camera? I only need one to take pictures of projects for our notebooks.

I've seen some on e-bay but I'm sceptical of purchasing from an internet intity. Any thoughts? For any who have kept a mental tab of all of my "wants" right now, the digital camera I think is the most important verses even--dare I say it--TIMELINE FIGURES.

We bought a nice digital camera from Walmart in the clearance. They sell the displays for cheaper. We got a $259.00 camera for $179.00. The person who ran the department really new her stuff and we just told her what we wanted it for and we looked at all the clearance stuff - she helped us pick a good one from there. There was nothing missing and they are happy to let you open the box and check.

We bought a real cheap ok but not great digital at walmart for $20.00 It was a great deal, like I said not the greatest and you need the room to be kind of bright but you can't beat $20 for a digital.

    moondancer,

Was that on clearance, too? Funny, my hubby works at Wal-Mart (Loss Prevention) so he usually does our Wal-Mart shopping....guess I'm gonna have to go look. He has to "shop" while he is there to blend in anyway, so a digital camera will be the next thing I have him price for me. At that price I might be able to get one sooner than I thought.

Sorry I just checked back on here. No that price wasn't on clearance. They had two different styles for the same price. One looked like a regular camera and one was like a stick camera. Like I said its not the greatest but for the price you can't beat it at all. Forgot to mention the downside though. THere is no memory card slot so you have to download them onto your comp.

Thanks so much! I had hubby "shop" for it the other night. He said that his store didn't have in on the shelf, but he'd be checking with the department manager....maybe even get a heads-up for future clearance items.

I'll check out the link now. Thanks again! BTW....were you the one wanting a copy of my local homeschool newsletter? I haven't been able to save the new format for some reason, or forward it to anyone. I just fixed the problem, so if you would like a copy of the Burlington, IA area homeschool newsletter, let me know. It is a Christian group, but they have info for Burlington and the Quad Cities that have nothing to do with faith. The QC area has tons more stuff than we do here.

yes actually I was. But right now we are so up in the air on what's going on it's no big deal if we can't get it. One minute the job says he'll be laid off any time now the next they are freaking out because a rumor is spreading that we are already packing! We're certainly not packing yet but we are also up in the air about where we are going when he does get laid off. We've narrowed it down to either a Springfield Mo suburb or to Fulton Illinois. Choices choices. I hate it course after the way my house looks right now due to dh playing Mr. Mom for 4 days, mommy got really really sick, I'm leaning more and more towards Illinois. Times like this make you want to be close to family.

Boy am I starting to ramble. Anyways if you can get it to me that's great otherwise its no big deal.

    AHHHHHRRRRRRR!!!!!!! :x

I can now save the new format to my computer, but hotmail won't let me send it as an attachment. I'll see if I can get more creative or send it on someone else's computer. I don't get what is going on with mine....or maybe it's just hotmail, I don't know.

Keep me posted on what your plans are. I would at least be able to put you in touch with a very large, very active group around the QC area.

I think I posted before that ever since my husband downloaded that new thing from Microsoft, my computer has been funky, too. Do you have that, Brooke, that new Service Pack? It's so bad some days my husband said he's considering deleting my stuff and creating a whole new account for me.

Ok I don't know what's going on but as soon as I first read the words, "I think I posted before that ever since my husband downloaded that new thing from Microsoft, my computer has been funky," my comp went really funky. Had to reboot it was really wierd. It flashed and then a bunch of wierd stuff popped up with alot of black squares. It was strange. Seems to be fine now though.

As soon as I know what's going on I"ll probably shout it from the roof tops. It's gorgeous here but it is so boring and so far away from everything.

Becky, the only thing I ever download are the urgent ones on Windows Update....like security issues and so on. I haven't done it in a while and was needing to check about updating. I'll look to see if it has any service packs. Thanks for the heads-up!

What happens to me is, I'll get to look for awhile, then something will feel 'different' about the computer. Sure enough, it's frozen up. I have to log off completely , then log back on. When it's shutting down, a little bit of each page I went to shows up.

Hmmmm....nothing like that here. Mine seems to be more of a firewall type problem. Once I changed my firewall, I could save my e-mails to my harddrive, but I still can't forward e-mails or view some things like the rich text bar on my hotmail new message page. I've contacted the administrator and still got nowhere. I feel very prone right now cuz I've even shut off my filter for content....nothing is working to fix the problem. Anyway, thanks for the help.

    Moondancer,

Well, my hubby brought home a digital camera last night. They had the $16 dollar one and then they had one for $20. I'm not sure which one is the better bargain. He brought the $20 one home without me knowing and I woulda liked to have compared.....anyway, it seems to work okay in natural lighting but for inside pictures at night you practically have to aim it at a light bulb! In the day, I can stand in the shade and it works...really strange to me. Is your camera that temperamental with artificial lighting? If not, I might exchange mine for one like yours. Thanks for your help!

Well like I said earlier the room does have to be kind of bright but it still gets the job done for documentation purposes. I wish it was better quality but for the money I think it does a good job. I'm not sure about the $20 one I haven't really checked the specs on that one.

Well, I answered me own question....lol.....I ask some silly ones sometimes. Forgive me

I've been a picture taking fool today! With natural light--even when the natural light appears dim indoors--it takes good pictures. I am very pleased with the quality for the price. I might even be tempted to change my Einstein picture into one of my household pics! :D
