Why have threads and messages disappeared? I've just signed on to find a private message from someone asking what happened to some messages I posted recently. They're right: several messages seem to have disappeared without a trace or any explanation. For example, I recently asked about the impact of 'unschooling' on the reputation of 'homeschooling', and the entire thread is missing. Based on my post count, it seems other messages were deleted too. As a moderator myself of a rather large and busy forum, I'm used to deleting messages that break forum rules, but I'm sure no rules were broken here (indeed, the discussions were useful and informative). Plus, whenever a moderator deletes a message, it's customary to send an explanatory note so there's no mystery about it - but I've received no message so it is a mystery! Can someone please explain what happened, why it happened, and what if anything I and others should do differently to prevent this happening in the future? Thanks.
My post count has dropped quite a bit today, so I tried to backtrack to understand why. It looks like the discussion we were having about why more girls are homeschooled than boys has also disappeared. I'm really rather confused.
Thanks, MamaBear for referring to the moderator. Any questions about missing threads, etc. or moderation decisions need to be directed to me or ABall in private. I have taken care of this and reapproved the posts. Also, members might want to read Steve's intro post: http://www.homeschoolspot.com/showthread.php?t=18172
As I mentioned in another post, thank you for resolving the perceived problem. I'm here to learn and contribute and am grateful for the opportunity to do so. Ironically, I'm traveling on business today and for the rest of the week, so I won't be able to post until the weekend.
I've lost quite a chunk of my post count, too. But really what's the difference? I'll never catch up to Deena anyway...
