Wordpress has more options but blogger is definitely easier to navigate. My two blogs, listed in my siggie, are each on a different platform. The "random blog" is on blogger and was much easier to get up and running and put things where I wanted and see what there is to add as far as widgets, etc... but it's because there are less options.

The "homeschool blog" is at homeschoolblogger which is now owned by TOS and is a wordpress platform. Took me over a week to even figure out how to do some simple things, like change the title and description. But it has a LOT of different design options, most of which have tweakable details like colors, etc. Also took me a long time to figure out how to find groups, which it turns out most of them are for teens - actually makes me wonder if homeschoolblogger isn't more for the homeschooled teen these days than the homeschooling MOMS. ;) Point being, if you know what you're doing, wordpress is probably great, but the user interface isn't super easy and it's certainly not for beginners.

I only recently went back to blogging and had to re-learn how to do these. When I created my homeschool blog the first time, it was a blogger platform also and so it's all changed since then and was really, really hard to learn how to even restart there. I think that as I learn I will prefer that format for the options, but I'm not leaving my blogger any time soon because it's just so easy to do what I need to do and to find other moms. :)

    Hope that helps!

My blog is on blogger. I am not trying to generate any revenue so it's perfectly fine. I've heard that if you start generating any serious amount of revenue that blogger can cause a lot of issues!

Depends on what you want to do.

If you want a personal blog Wordpress or blogger will do. Some people find blogger more user friendly, I personally have always preferred WP over blogger.

If you want to try to blog for money (sell ads and such on your blog) I suggest go ahead and save up for a self hosted wordpress (wordpress.org) and save yourself the hassle of having to move! Because if you keep at it, everyone eventually moves to self hosted wordpress.

If you can't or won't pay for hosting, but want to sell ads, you have to go with Blogger, as it is against the WP terms of use to place ads on a free WP blog. (wordpress.com) That's in bold because I TOTALLY did that because I didn't know I wasn't allowed to :)

The move from blogger to self hosted wordpress really isn't all that bad, but it's always easier to start off where you want to be than to make the move.

You have much more control over WP than blogger (which is why I always preferred it) and you have TONS more control over a self hosted wordpress.

I use bluehost for my self hosted WP blog. But I have in the past used Yahoo small business and 1&1 for hosting self hosted WP blogs. I was pleased with all of them. If you've never ran a self hosted before, yahoo small business was the easiest to navigate. I'm on Bluehost no because it was the cheapest host I could find when I bought cowsdontmoo.com
