settlers: winning a million bucks would be wonderful. But, I heard it's not everything it's meet to be. Would you be happy with million for a while. But, yes it would be nice to treat everyone to a mommy day and not worry about the kids. BOY that would be nice. So, win are you going to win this so I can get ready. LOL
We often talked about what we would do with a windfall like that (since we don't play the lottery). We would obviously pay off our house and set aside money for "retirement" and the kids' educations--or maybe a first home if they didn't go to school????? We'd also like to help our parents with their debts, what little they have. You know, I guess all in all we'd be kinda selfish with just a mill. Cuz the next thing we'd do is buy an acreage with lots of pasture and timber (horses and hunting, you know)...and around me land cheaper than other places so we'd still have alot left to take a trip to Isreal and help out other people. We've also talked about investing it in a way that dh would still be working but the extra money from interest could be used to fund all sorts of great things like missions trips and stuff...and we'd still have the mill sitting in the bank. That's more likely what I would like to do....but it would still be awful tempting to buy that acreage for about $150,000!.....wish we had a smiley called "pipe dreams".
Heck, I only need half a million, I wont be greedy. I would just like enough to get rid of our debt and give some to our church. I wouldn't pay off our house, we'd sell it and buy a newer one with another bath and a couple extra bedrooms. However, I would love to have lots of money, not just for those things, but to help other people. I hope people who have that kind of money realize how fortunate they are and use their money to help others as God intends.
We can all dream. Can't we? Settlers taking us to the spa, paid off houses or bigger ones, trips, church offerings, many many other things. LOL What a dream!
While it would seem like a nice thing, we've made plans over and over again if we ever had that kind of money - pay off debts that we owe and donate the rest - I have no use for that kind of money. There are so many more people who need it more than I do. I used to look after a couple who could wipe their bottoms with $1000 bills and think nothing of it and they were the most miserable people I have ever known in all of my life. Money (IMHO) isn't what makes a person tick - in the end it could what turns a gold heart to coal...
If I won a million dollars, I wouldn't say anything. It has been my experience that the people that talked bad about me when I was poor all of a sudden thought I was wonderful when I wasn't poor. They think now that I have something I can afford for them to help themselves. If I had a million dollars I would quietly invest it and ask God to point me in the right direction.I would pray for wisdom to know who can be helped and how to help.I would help as many people possible.
I don't think so. Money changes people. Makes them almost unable to get along with, I know someone who got a couple million. They have changed, and I don't like the person that they have become. They are mean and very overprotective of everything. They even stopped going to church. No, that type of life isn't for me.
Becky, Tithing is what I'd do first. It goes into our church system and would be a GREAT help for programs and schools and things! We go to church on Saturday. Our church is renting from another church that goes on Sunday, so it's a good deal, and our two congregations get along very well. BUT, if I had that money, I'd LOVE to find land or a church building to buy so we could have our own building!
