Ok... so I've tried a lot of the local groups --- or at least tried to try them. They just don't seem to work out for me.

For one, I'm not Christian ~~ so that eliminates 75% of them right there.

Then I'll find groups/co-ops that look really good, but they 'require' a certain amount of participation or leadership or whatever. Well, I live out in the boonies with 4 kids and disabled, divorced parents living next door to my and each other. LOL I'm doing good to get through my day at HOME w/o trying to lead a class or workshop!! So those are out.

Then I'll find groups that are TRULY secular and active and all like that --- on the other side of town.

OR, I'll find a group that says they're secular, but they're not really, and they're schedule totally conflicts with what I can work with.

So, it's been a struggle -- lemme tell ya.

Well, I didn't give up. I kept posting every so often and trying different places and all. And now I've got a lunch/play date set up with 2 other secular hsing families this Monday & only about 12 miles from me.

Cross your fingers for me, people!!! This could be it! LOL

    :D

That is cool! We wouldn't really fit into a group either. We are christian to an extent.. but not the extent that most christians are if that makes sense. I also don't want to be committed to something because with a housefull of kids.. well life happens!

I do kinda love my quiet introverted life though so it fits me well to not have a group.

Hope this works out for you! And good for you for keeping on trying to find something! IT's so neat when you finally find the people or group you've been trying to! It took me awhile to find groups and people we work together well with! But it's worth the time and effort when you DO find it!!!

    Best wishes to you! :D

Welcome, Laja! There's been so many new people lately, I'm not sure I've "met" you yet! I'm Jackie, from central Ohio!

Am glad you are finding something that might work out for you! It's hard to find "exactly" what we want, isn't it? There's several good co-ops around here, but I'm afraid I got spoiled with the one our church had when I first started out. It folded (along with the church, eventually!). And since then, it's like you say...too much involvement (or too much money, or both!!!) Good luck with it!!!
