...begins in 5 days! Did you guys sign up for this via Sonlight? http://www.missionindia.org/sonlight It looks pretty fun - we love studying the Eastern cultures so I'm looking forward to it.
WE DID!!!! We did the One Verse Project last year and loved it! This fits in so nice with our MFW this year. Thinking of just setting aside the MFW Bible for those few weeks.
If ever you have any questions about India, let me know. I've had the privilege of visiting the country on business very many times. It is definitely one of my favorite places to visit. You either love it or hate it; there is no in-between.
Yeah, I bet "there is no in-between" describes a lot in India. It definitely has its problems but still - very interesting culture.
For children in their mid to late teens, I'd recommend books by RK Narayan. His most famous is 'Malgudi Days'. In one of his prefaces, he writes that, in India, you can look out a window at any time and see someone about whom you can write a story. It's very true, and his books are very readable. They capture something of the essence of India.
I love this line. It is probably true of anyplace. you just have to SEE it. I am feeling a "pulling" toward India. (which is interesting, because my hubby is NOT.) ;0 We support a mission Harvest India, that among other things rescues young prostitutes and gives them nurses training. I keep thinking that I could teach. hmmmm. Well, God knows. I will wait on him. But that being said, I am not sure I would LIKE India. :? I like my beef. And I am sensitive to smells. Patchuli isn't my favorite, curry isn't my favorite. I am a loud mouthed WOMAN. That could be a problem.
I am happy that I heard about this, and I did sign up. My ex-husband is East Indian, so my oldest two children are half Indian... I am hoping they will be interested! How exactly does it work, and what do you do after signing up?
I think they start sending you e-mails - when I posted that it really was 5 days until it begins - so this week you should get an e-mail I guess. We'll have to wait and see.
