But anyway - what a GREAT article. Thanks for posting it. I love the part where she siad she could take her kids to Istanbul to learn about the Byzantine Empire! Awesome. Maybe we could do an exchange and she could come here to learn about gold mines and mountain men!

I am in UAE, and the good news is the location is pretty near to many ancient site. So, going to Istanbul will not cost a bomb.
I have never sent any of my dc to any school in UAE, therefore I have no idea how bad/good their schools are.
The issue I pick up from the article is that it's always a good idea to homeschool ourselves as parents because schools today are facing many problems ie teachers, curriculum (politically endorsed), etc. Even a rich country like UAE can provide the state of art schools but human relations issue are neglected, then it's back to square one.
Many other issues that may arise but the above is one crucial that reflect schools today in my humble opinion.

Great article!! When I clicked on it, I fully expected some sociologist telling us all how we need to conform and just send our children away to school.
Im back in the country now- have been in Bahrain.
Arrived back about 1/2 hr ago, and just downloaded some photos and catching up on all the emails.
Sounds like the get together went well on Saturday!
I'll be attending the Arabian Wildlife Centre in November, but cant make the park get together as we have more visitors ( arriving tonight at 12.30am).
Ahhh- my blog. Was it you that left a message on the last entry? If so, I did answer it last night ( or day before....all the days have blurred into one!)
I will be endeavouring to update it this week with holiday snaps from Bahrain- just depends on how much the visitors want to see and do!
