How many hours of schooling per day do your kids do

We never had a set number of hours. Our state doesn't require it.

Hey, got a crazy idea. Your thoughts?

Burn out isn't isolated to homeschooling. It is part of parenthood, and it is something that every parent deals with at one point or another. There are some unnecessary things in life that cause extra stress. Then there are situations that are unavoidable. There is no program that can determine...

    Happy New (School) Year!

My daughter graduated this past school year. She leaves for college on August 31st. I am going to miss homeschooling, but I am looking forward to everything new. :D Have a great year!

    When to start?

I thought about homeschooling before my daughter was born. We knew from birth that she wouldn't attend a public school. I know many people who are thinking about it , and their child is very young.

    Piano lessons? (past or current)

It fluctuates around here. The rate for beginners, in my city, is $20 per half hour. Then prices go up according to location and the teachers experience. Some teachers in larger cities charge $30+. My daughter teaches piano, but she doesn't have a degree.. She charges $15 per half hour lesson.

    What do you consider Homeschooling?

California has four options for home education. Homeschooling is one of these options. Homeschooling is parent directed and parent funded. This doesn't mean they cannot use outward sources. However, these programs can't be state funded. Too often I here parents say their children are...

What's your favorite and least favorite subject to teach?

Math and science are my least favorite, however, I don't believe it has hindered her academic growth in the least.
