Making baby food question

Ok, for all you baby food experts that have made their own food. I buy canned goods from Sam's for the daycare kids. The peaches and pears are in very light syrup. Can I use those if I drain them and rinse the syrup off well? Will that matter? I pureed a couple cans before I looked at the label. I filled one whole tray with only two cans!!! :D YAY, but I don't want to give those to him if it will make a huge difference with the canning syrup. ???

I did!

I always made my own baby foods. I almost posted about it the other day, how strange!

Homemade Baby Food
Steam or cook fruits & veggies: carrots, potatoes, apples etc. Place in food processor adding water as needed. Pour into baby food jars for the next time your baby eats.

Oh Jennie, that avatar is so cute, your little guy is so cute...
Jennie, when I made homemade baby food which was along time ago, I never drained the syrup before I put in the processer, or blender, you need water anyway, so I thought why not use the syrup, yea some might say to much sugar, then get the lite, but my kids made it and did well.

My children survived as well. . . ;-) Although honestly the twins were into these very tropical mushy mixtures like papaya and avocado or banana and avocado with pineapple juice. So those I always made fresh. Such spoiled little girls-huh?!

Thank you so much girls! I have two huge cases (canned) of pears and peaches from Sam's that I buy for the daycare kids so I'd hate to see it go to waste. I did drain them (this was before I posted) and they did turn out really well even without the extra liquid...maybe because they are already mushy? They have been in the freezer overnight so I am anxious to see if Aiden likes them or not next time he eats. I haven't been feeding it to him every day yet, just when I think he needs/wants it right now. Some days he wants it, some days he doesn't. Now...on to green beans and peas! :D I've got two cases of those too. :)

Jen, I saw this post yesterday and meant to reply to it then but got distracted and forgot...

I made Andrew's baby foods myself (well most of them). Carrotts, peas, etc... I bought them like we would eat them and then threw them in a blender... pureed them and then froze them in an ice cube tray. The serving size seemed to work for him (to start anyway until he really took a liking to them). No additions to it - no salt or anything else...

As for Noah... whatever we ate, he ate - tossed into the blender of course... no advance prep by then though... we had three young boys by then so it was a fly by the seat of your pants deal with him.
