Pulling together ideas for next year

Ok,
I think I have narrowed down science to either BJU 5th grade or real science 4 kids physics 1.

For history. I think (but have not committed to) SOTW. middle ages.
we are doing (sort of) MOH and while I appreciate the inclusion of bible history...I didn't want practically exclusive bible history. I am assuming that the middle ages is not as heavy on that, considering the bible was finished by then...but I worry that MOH may be too much church history.?? does anyone have any opinions on that?

Grammar...I really have no idea. I am apeasing myself with the idea that if we read a lot of good books and talk about the writing and (very occasionally) write something....they are getting at least some grammar. ugh. I am not confident in this area.

Math. that is easy, we will stick with Saxon until we get to algebra and then I will probably switch to TT.

Reading. This is also easy, buying books is never a stressful thing for me. We will look for stuff related to the middle ages but will not stick with that exclusively.

Typing - deluxe typing
Spelling - spelling power

Band for ds the elder.
might consider piano for ds the younger.

Would like to consider a language...but time is an issue.
I try to throw in various map and geography things...pertaining to history. and to our vacations...and the books we are reading.

So any opinions? ideas... especially on grammar, history and science.
oh, the boys will be 7th and 4th grade.
(so we will also need to put at least some NM history in for ds the younger...and a field trip to Lincoln county.)

I have used the Voyages program (published by Loyola) and we liked it. You could also look at something simple like "daily grams" or something like that. As for langauge - you might want to just get a CD or tape for the car - we have had good luck with that. I now need to find a Latin and Spanish one!
