"STUCK" word game

Please let me know if this has already been done here--I only skim over things sometimes and might have missed it. Sorry if it has:oops:

Anyway, I give the first word and then each person after me can change only one letter to form a new word. We play until someone gets "STUCK".

ENGLISH ONLY--NO FOREIGN LANGUAGES (unless, I suppose, it's a word we've adopted and is generally accepted)

NO ADDING LETTERS--only change ONE letter.

Oh man, I was trying to be clever with "gnat" but I think I might have prematurely put the cabash on the game!! I'll see if I can hunt down a word that works with "gnaw"!!
 
LOL Sorry about that. :oops: I think I must have ended it prematurely. I've looked and substituted letters and haven't come up with one yet. We may have to start over with a new word.
