Stupid question: Do moths poop????

Seriously, do moths poop??? We have moths EVERYWHERE and where they have been sitting has little brown spots.. Curtains and walls. I posted on fb my irritations over it and someone called me on it.. Now I'm second guessing.. So does anyone know if moths do in fact poop??? I SOOO wanna put a youtube video on this persons wall of a pooping moth. He CRACKS me up!
 
Ummmm...have you ever kept a caterpillar for any length of time? Poop factories. I'm assuming that changing their state does little to their digestive systems. ;)
 
They must do to be alive, remember this biology mnemonic?

M - movement
R - respiration
S - sensitivity
G - growth
R - reproduction
E - excretion = poop
N - nutrition
 
Like Emjay said, they're alive, so they need to remove waste products from their body somehow.

(And yes, Brooke, I know all about the poop of Monarch caterpillars!!!)
 
If it eats, it poops. There are some critters that once they become adults they do not eat, they live only long enough as adults to reproduce and then they die. Those as adults wouldn't poop. Everything else does.

I'm betting you know this for the same reason I do!!! Getting rid of them is SO difficult once they get established!!! I had to clean/empty my entire pantry!!!

yup. Thankfully ours were confined to our garage. They bred in the chicken food. We had little worms EVERYWHERE. NASTY!

MY dh would go in there with a flyswat every day for a few weeks.
 
yuck yuck and yuck. I hate moths. In my mind there was a creature who was jealous of the beautiful butterflies. So he did some dark magic, and tried to turn himself into one. Only it didn't work because of the nature of the Dark Arts, so he became a moth, destined to prowl the night and be detested by all.
The end.

We had them in our pantry too. I ended up throwing out all beans, rice, cereal, etc and cleaning like crazy. Had to do that TWICE!!
 
They sometimes squirt a watery liquid. One might find little yellowish drips in the bathroom high on the walls trim and doors and think it is dried urine and due to disbelief mixed with confusion scold the males in the house. WHen it is actually the moths. :oops:
