This is why I don't trust my kids to the schools.

It is nothing new. I was going to Planned Parenthood after 16 to buy condems and to be honest it was more for the fact we could buy them. Gosh my friends and I were geeks and she ended up being the one that ended up pregnant. I don't support giving out birth controls to students without parental permision. There are side effects and morning after is just a higher dose of BC. I have only seen one case where the lady had bad effects of taking the morning after pill. I'd never take it and pray my girls never will either.
This makes me think of one of my jobs in a private office. He was a good doctor and while he wasn't Christian (he's Hindu?) he refused to prescribe anything to stop a possible pregancy. He stood by his beliefs in his practice. I liked him, I am sure he is done retired now since it's been a little over 10 years since I worked for him.
Then again I am trying to see where the school is coming from. Sadly there are many who don't have the loving and caring parents and the school tries to be that in their neutral ways. If they do this I wonder if they take students to end pregnancies as well without parental consent. Also a decade ago this was true for some southern states. A clinic has a patient as young as 13 come in for a procedure without parental consent and it was all legal, the parents didn't need to know.
 
Even from a morally neutral standpoint, this is bad news. Does the school know the entirety of a child's medical history to know if it's safe or not? What happens when the child suffers adverse reactions and no one (parent & doctor) has this crucial bit of information?
 
my husband and I have talked about this when I was working before the dual came along and again recently when our oldest started attending the middle school and would like to continue going to PS part time for Band. Something negative will come it's just a can of worms waiting to open.
 
I know that if I would ave had access to birth control and condoms and so forth in highschool, it would have been bad news all the way around. I cinge at some of the stuff i did when I was young,and it was all a ploy to be cool, and to show my friends I wasn't afraid to do stuff. Really sad now.

I agree that if the parents don't know all the substances that a child takes it can be bad news, especially if the child is too embarassed/afraid/incompassitated to tell parents durign a real situation. Uck. Bad news all the way around.
