Totally 80's Trivia

I am stumped on this one. Maybe the Brady Bunch? Yeah I know it is about 15 or 20 years too old but this one is hard! I am still thinking.

WONDER YEARS!!! (OK, I cheated and looked it up!)

Now here's MY question!!! As y'all know, I live in Central Ohio. Which 80's sit com took place in the Columbus suburb of Worthington?

Family Ties??? Just a total guess.

AHHH!!! No prize for me!!! Yes, Ava, it's Family Ties! You would often see them wearing OSU sweatshirts, or occassionally they would remark on some Columbus landmark.

But the Columbus landmark was always in the wrong place. "Hey, Mom, I'm going to go play basketball at Darby Creek Park!" (REAL example!) like it was right down the road.. LOLOL We loved that!

(Edited 'cuz I just remembered that I misremembered which park he said. LOL)

YES!!! I have been checking on and off all day to see if I was right. I had a sneaking suspicion but it has been so long since I have seen it.

I used to love Family Ties!

How about Rave hairspray and white rain hairspray! I always used Aussie Sprunch spray, too....to get the REALLY big hair!

I just got back from a funeral. I can't believe this is so many pages already!! I missed so much!! I need to jump back in!!

Marylyn, figures you would remember any reference to Batelle Darby! Do the even HAVE basketball courts there, or is there another Darby Park?

They do actually have a couple of baskets in one of the picnic areas. But nothing worth riding a bike from Westerville to visit! LOL How many miles would that be... 30?

But it SOUNDED good on the show, that's all that mattered! What has truth got to do with it?! And what's a mere 30 miles?!

To a 15 year old, on a bike, after school... LOL I'm sure the writers just glanced at a map and said, hey, here's a park! It's west of town, so it shows up nicely. I went to high school in Hilliard, which is also on the west side of Columbus, and we used to go out to Darby Creek to hike along the paths. Westerville, on the other hand, is on the northeast side of town. And Columbus is the 16th biggest city in the US, so the northeast side of town is quite a distance!

He He, I had some really big 80's hair.

No, Marylyn, they were in Worthington, not Westerville! So at least it was still west of 71, lol! That would knock the distance from 30 miles to 25! That would make a BIG DIFFERENCE to a 15yo on a bke, wouldn't it? LOL!

For the rest of you, I grew up on the OPPOSITE side of town, between Worthington and Westerville. I don't think I ever visited this park until I was older and Marylyn's family had picnics there!

Do you remember the name of the cat on ALF? If I am not mistaken ALF was trying to eat the cat in the first few episodes at least.

This show actually started in 1979 and ran a couple of years I think. It was a spin off of BJ and the Bear. Anyone remember it?
