I'm not so sure.. I just had a talk with hubby and he's not convinced we need to drive that far to see farm animals (we actually live on a farm that his uncle works.. just cows and corn)... I am really gonna try to win this one!!! It would be so cool to meet up!

Oh yeah Deena.. the recorders came the other day!!! My hubby had to be the first to play with them, then I had to play too... the kids thought we were losing it..lol.

We are startubg back After Labor day as well, We always have started two days after labor Day as a rule of thumb.
I start out with handing out the lessons and setting up desks with supplies in them and everything just like they would in a traditional school, the fun stuff was always important to me so I have always tried to keep the stuff Iliked about school in my house school,
Then after we hand things out we go to the movies because we can!
ITs Home School, not public not private just HOme school and we are special! haha!
We take days off during the year just because we homeschool too!
Kind of helps the kids see homeschooling as a good thing, I know educational wise we are better but they need to know its better in thier eyes too or the work just does not get done.

We start the week before Labor Day. That's because DH goes back then, and we've found it's easier to follow his schedule.

They ARE fun to play around on! :) Glad you enjoyed them! It's worth having the kids think you're nuts sometimes!

Hey! You're not going that far just to see farm animals---unless you consider Dana's and my families farm animals!!! ;) I should've held on to the recorderes and bribed you to come by holding them ransom!

    Hope we can do this!

You know I am a mean mama, I start back on my regular date even though ds16 goes back middle of August, and we make a big deal about doing fun stuff during school while he is gone.
I think maybe its kinda mean because ds is out at school by choice, not by having to be and I want him to know he is missing out!
Just thought of that during this thread, ehe, what do you think? Do I get the mean mama award?

We've been doing a little bit here and there but we will officially start in the next week. We will have a break in august when my mom comes and visits.

OH OH OH... It might be a go... if we can find space on Dana's farm or close by to either pitch a tent or set the pop up It would also have to be a weekend, dh has a hard time getting time off this time of year.

We do math, reading, and vocabulary over the summer, then go full-force beginning in August. My dd isn't happy about it, but if she wants to complete Apologia before her senior year, she doesn't have a choice :)
