Inspired by the First Day thread.... I'm wondering when everyone is going to 'start school' for the fall? We school year-round, so we haven't stopped really, but we HAVE slowed a bit for summer to spend more time outside and take trips, field trips, etc. We'll be starting a new schedule and several subjects will be following a new methodology or format though for the fall. Our "fall schedule" will start Tuesday, July 10. (My husband is off Sundays and Mondays, so we school Tuesday through Saturday, at least for the new schedule!) What about you all?
We haven't really stopped, we year round too. It's always slower in the summer but things do get done. We will start our Fall schedule some time in Aug. I can't believe it's July already!!
We will probably start Sept. after Labor Day. Too much going on before that including County Fair and the Demolition Derby. Have to wait until after that
We'll probably start near the end of August. We'll be on vacation most of the rest of July, then when we get back, we'll need to readjust to being home, and I'll need to go through and organize things before we can start. We're trying to get a few more things done before we leave!
Dena where are you going? We school year round. Took a break before dads accident, and then the move and all.. But we started back up today and had a blast!
I'm going to see Jackie! We're going to meet each other on the 17th in Philadelphia to go to the King Tut exhibit! Otherwise we'll be in MD at my dh's parent's home, or Virginia at my sister's home. Or somewhere in between doing something somewhere! Hey Jen, if ya hurry on over to Dallas/Ft. Worth next Wednesday, we could meet for 2 minutes in the airport!
We will most likely start up, full time, in August. We are working on simple projects and activities all through vacation. Tomorrow Ems starts paint lessons. We aren't going with a tutor because they want to much and we didn't receive any replies from the collage. All worked out well because she will be in a class of 12 students or less for an hour and a half, every Wednesday. We are paying $8.00 a class which is great compared to what some people wanted to charge us for weekly sessions. They also have a membership option but I am not sure what this consists of yet. I'll find out tomorrow. Patty
wow.. we acutally could go to Dana's farm.. it would be a long road trip for us but.. hmmmm might have to go have a sweet talk with hubby...
We have an offical start date of August 6th set for us... but we still do little things all along. I won't start working on any preschool with the two littler ones till mid Sept.
I usually start the 1st week of Aug. but depending on what happens with dh's job, we may wait until after a move.
We will start the end of August of the day after Labor Day. Probably teh day after Labor Day. There is just too much going on before then.
We do much lighter "school" in the summer...Junior Ranger day camps, 4-H projects, hiking/nature trips, which we do count as our days of school. However, we start "typical" school about the second or third week of August. I just try to have a general idea of what we're doing and work from there. We've never had trouble covering what we want to cover. In Indiana we don't have to submit lesson plans, currriculum, or portfolios, so we're better able to be flexible as needed, including with scheduling. We only have to prove attendance of 180 days, and that's ONLy if asked. No hs-er I know has ever been asked. Carol
Yep, I thought about that! We could go the longer way around from MD to Virginia (or from VA to MD on the way back) and stop by her farm. It'd be after the 17th. Think we could swing it to meet there one day?
we started back on Monday of this week. So far so good. Even did a little this morning while dh was cutting the grass and I was making a couple salads for this afternoon. Apparently she hasn't lost anything the past 2 months and we did nothing but read. Dd couldn't wait to get started.
You all plan on showing up here - just let me know We have already started school - trying to do a little better. And now I have to let my husband know I plan on filing my NOI soon (we have the 4-H fair during the week that I would usually have to file it so I plan on doing it early)
