Yep, that's how I tell people where I live: "Turn left on the first road and we're the house with the jungle in front!" No one has missed us yet!
I just saw on Fox's "breaking news" here for Houston that the area I drove through earlier is now completely under water. I was ticked off at dh for taking so long to meet me earlier because I was scared that was going to happen to us.
Great Texas trivia website... Handbook of Texas Online. One of my favorite places. You can search for anything Texas related. Finding out about your area is so fun. I found out some really interesting things. Great website.
just talk to friends from Corpus Christi where we just left and they got 12 inches of rain down there the other day said it is really bad down there. hope it ends for you all soon. sure glad we got out when we did.
Right now on Houston news at West Mt. Houston and I-45. That is where my inlaws live. Crappy part of town and there is a lake there now. I am soooooo glad I wasnt' caught in that! After being flooded there years ago I learned that area floods quickly. We still have a house there and things are just things but there is another family living there as well as my inlaws next door. I'm so glad we didn't loose anything this time so far but I'm praying for my renters and inlaws.
We just went without power for about two hours. GR no fun! And the power didn't even go out until after it had STOPPED raining. I was going to take a picture of the water from the road covering the curb and meeting the grass, but by the time I went out to do it darkness had already fallen. yeah, thanks - this was helpful an hour ago <rolling eyes>
Out in Virginia we don't really get flooded, except our house. The grade of our driveway is pointing towards our basement so sometimes we go downstairs to a puddle for a floor.
Oh, my I missed this yesterday!!! Please send some of your rain to Ohio!!! We're having a drought here! We were suppose to get some I think three different days this week (including the 4th!), and got one little "storm". A lot of thundering, but very little rain!
We got this new fangled thing in Texas, Ya'll! Check it out! It is BIG BRIGHT YELLOW AND IT GIVES OFF THE MOST WONDERFULL HEAT! IT IS... THE SUN! Yesterday, it made its appearance and the children said, Look Mom! SHADOWS! And of course, today is the day my AC in my van, the only remaining vehicle was have, decided to go out.... We are in SOUTHERN Texas..... BUT! As any good Girl, I look to heaven and thank God that the AC did not go out during all the raining..... at least now we can roll the windows down without getting wet!
