Both ends of our County Road is flooded! No going anywhere today. Our creek behind our house is rushing, but not anywhere near the house. We have never flooded like this before. We got almost 5 inches just last night, but it has not stopped raining for a full day for almost a month.
The hardest hit is work though. We are in construction and trying to work on a bridge at a residence and the water never stops. Bills are coming faster than I can think!

Hopefully it slows down! I've been wondering about you gals out that way. Around this time last year the town I grew up in was severely flooded. They had numerous beaver dams break and topped with alot of rain it was devastating.

On the bright side, you are still on-line!!

We have already this year had 12 more inches than last years total! We were almost under burn bans this time last year.
We have never flooded before - we are in a pretty good area. Things are getting cleaned out though. People are mentioning 40 days and 40 nights!

I hope it slows down for you! We live in an area that gets horrible floods. We are lucky enough to live on top of a mountain, but those that live near the creeks and river get hit hard on a somewhat regular basis! That water can come up so fast you don't know what hit you! Just try to stay safe!

Oh man, sorry that's happening to you! Hope it slows down and the waters recede soon!

We are in south east texas and it has rained everyday for 6 WEEKS!

The last time I remember it not raining was in May.
However we are lucky enough to live on a raised part of land, so flooding has not been a problem. It is depressing, though. We would love to take DH to the hot spa for "Therapy" but it never stops raining.... ugh!

We even had a waterspout, Water-tornado, over in Galveston yesterday!

But mostly.... it just rains everyday....

That is a lot of rain!
I pray it lets up soon.
Amy we are like you, we haven't even received 1" of rain in over a year. Down the hill they are right around 3" in over a year.
To bad the rain didn't spread out and give us all an even drench.;)

I sure wish we could share the rain with those of you who really need it. We've had more than our share this summer! Our street flooded a few weeks ago. One of our neighbors has lived here for over 38 years and said this was only the second time she has seen the water that high. My husband was stuck at a gas station (luckily a closed one, so he wasn't in the way) for over 4 hours waiting for the water to go down. It was awful!

Stay safe, Sabrina! I sure hope this rain stops so you can get back to work... I can only imagine how stressful that is for all of you. :(

The last time we had that much rain was during El Nino in 1997. Our usually dry river bed was actually flooded over and roads were closed all over the city.
You all keep safe and dry!;)

Sabrina what part of Texas are you in?

Today I had to pick dh up from his dad's house so he could leave his work van there for the weekend. They live in an area where the streets always flood. So he was late getting there and I was worried we would get stuck there and our dog was here at home in the crate. When we left the creeks and bayous and storm drains were all flooding and the service road off I-45 was flooded. Thank God we have this big monstrosity of a vahicle so we could get through it but other little cars were getting stranded in parking lots.

We used to live next door to his dad years ago and actually still own the house and rent it out. In June of 2001 we got flooded in tropical storm Allison. All you Texans remember that???? Just remodeled and bought a house full of furniture when it happened. It was a mess. We had no flood insurance and FEMA gave us very little.

    Tiffany,
We had just bought a brand new house when Allison hit. With 3 feet of rain, we were SURE that the Brazos River was going to end up in our backyard. and we had built up to 54 feet....we were TERRIFIED.

Now, we live where dh grew up, and the property looks like a swamp. I'm sick of the rain, the water, the mud, the muddy, wet children, the muddy, wet dogs; the laundry, the footprints and paw prints.....all of it is getting on my last nerve.

Oh my gosh the footprints! The muddy nasty doggy footprints are everywhere! I'm kind of a neat freak too which right now sint' really working too well. And I'm only letting the poor dog out to go potty and then he comes right back in to get his feet cleaned.

I never knew rain could be so depressing! Usually we never have enough. Never enough for veges or hay.

I am in East Texas, 25 miles from everywhere...Tyler, Athens, Jacksonville...the closest town is Frankston, it is on most TX maps. We are in the original county seat of Henderson County, it is Fincastle.

I am just so tired of everything being wet. My grass is over a foot tall just because I can't mow. The yard never dries out enough. My flowers are BEAUTIFUL though! Petunias, morning glories, lilies, crepe myrtles, cannas, mammoth sunflowers... they need a break from the rain too and they had sunshine most of the day. Yeah!!!

Never heard of Fincastle! I was raised in a small Texas town but moved to Houston 7 years ago. Yes my yard is horrible. We call it the jungle right now. The backyard is especially bad. I have no flowers now. Only green.
