I think I should start getting my CBD order today, would be fun for them to come on my bday eh? HAHA!
We are still workingo n the last few items, got my teacher book for ds10's Considering God's creation really cheap, and may just order the book from CBD for student one cause the ones on Ebay seem so worn.
and its a cut it out type of curriculuim so that means its gonna be missing pages!

You will absolutely want a new copy of CGC workbook. It's really easier that way. WARNING: Some of the cut-and-paste are a bit tedious. I found it easier sometimes to take it to KINKO's or wherever and have them enlarged. Also, occasionally I also found it worked better to copy them onto TAGBOARD (that's "cardstock" for all you strange folk out there, lol!).

okay, cool thanks Jackie! I will copy them on Cardstock because thats what the paper on the wrapper calls it haha, if it had tagboard on it id call it that hehe giggle heheh

guess I already knew I was strange though hehe

So enlarge and print on the thick paper stuff and it will be easier?
by teedious what do you mean?
    ? Boring? Difficult? time consuming?

Difficult. I used it with a preschooler, Faythe was 9 and Rachael 11. Even Rachael had a little difficulty. You'll see when you get it. You won't have to do this for ALL the stuff, but it took me about four months of frustration trying to cut out all those intricate pieces before a light came on in my brain, lol! It's just an option for some of it. There's one activity in particular that has LOTS of bones, and you have to match the different bones with the different animal skeletons, or something like that. It's a great activity, but MUCH easier with larger pieces!

ok cool I will look for that, You know I am so excited for Science this year because of these two currics! I have NEVER been excited for science! I just kind of allowed it to exist! haha,
even BC days I was not interested in anything but the 6th grade science, we got to create our own invention, and when we got to draw our own bones in and I realized my shoulders were out of place for the first time.. btw, since that surgery this year for the fix that God already fixed, I have 'normal shoulders!"

Ok....I know that this may be a very subjective question but if you could choose for your 2nd and 4th grader would you go with Apologia, Considering God's Creation or Chistian Kids Explore...? I know...I know..very broad question. I am sorry. If it means you have to flip a coin please do so. LOL.

We chose Christian kids explore, because dd didn't want biology stuff, or leaf and flower stuff. She did some things like that a couple of years ago. She loved the Astronomy, but decided she'd like to do Chemistry. So finding the Christian Kids Explore Chemistry was GREAT! It should be here any day now, so hopefully it'll be a good curriculum! The descriptions of it online looked good.....

The Christian Kids Explore series looks pretty good to me also. I know my kids are sick to death of leaves and flowers. If I have to teach botony anytime soon I may go insane. We did flowers and junk for years in a row with our garden. lol. Biology is cool with us though.

Still confused...LOL. I do get the impression that Apologia is best for junior high and high school is that correct?

I looked at samples of Christian Kids Explore online and it seem pretty cool. Not sure if I will start with Earth and Space or Biology though. I think I will wait for Chemistry for the next year.

Thanks for all the opinions! I will take another look at Apologia..but as I said..my impression is that it best serves those in junior high and high school. A woman at church uses this for her high school student.

Ok...I purchased Christian Kids Explore Chemistry on Ebay. I am down with science. Science and history are taken care of. Only english and math are left. lol. I pretty much know what I am doing for both of those just have to order it.

    There is Apologia Elementary and

then it moves from there to General Science which is followed by specific topics. General Science is most often used for 6th to 8th graders (depending on where they are and what they've done!) and then they continue on from there.
The elementary books cover Astronomy, Botany and Zoology.

When I saw that Apologia spent a year on Botany I thought I would die! LOL. I hate botany. We have done our share of zoology also. The kids were not in the mood for a rehash. We also have a science book that briefly covers a wide variety of topics...I bought for summer. I am thinking that they know what they need to know for now in botany and biology. I will return back to those topics (maybe not botany..lol) when I can get more indepth with them.

I chose Biology for dd because that is what my ds did in his level and it is required by colleges for highschool. So that made it easy to pick once I looked around I chose Apologia because it was less than SOS and more inviting for a new change of Science. I am looking forward to recieving it! I think we won it at ebay for 29.99 for the cd, not possitive though, but we got the CD that has the whole deal on it! CDROM. ( claims cd has dvds as well )

That's a good price for the high school Apologia! I think I was able to find it at a used sale for about $20, including the CD. I bought it, even though I wasn't going to be needing it yet, because I knew I would never find it at that price when I WOULD meed it!
