Hello and welcome! I'm homeschooling my 3 boys in Ft. Worth. I'll say a prayer for your family - let us know how things go!
We are using the Susan Barton Reading and Spelling System with our dyslexic daughter and it is working out very well. She has a website, but haven't been a member long enough to post the website. Hope this helps. BTW, we are from Texas, too. Near Lubbock. Hugs from here!
I'm in Canada but I can totally relate. My son gets average grades on his report cards but I wonder at their standards. He brought home his report card on Friday and had all A's in French (he's in the core English program). Having once been in French Immersion, I can tell you that his French is extremely low. His entire repertoire consists of 15 or 20 words, all of them nouns. I like the way the report card marks make him feel but c'mon... He's in grade 5 right now, finishing up at p.s. and we're homeschooling in the fall. BTW, there are huge bullying/shunning issues that are decimating his self-esteem and confidence...better education at home is just the icing on the cake!!!
Welcome..Im still a newbie myself, but you will find this site really helpful I have a DS 10, DD 9 and DD 19 months, and every day is an adventure
