I really didn't know how to word the title, but I wanted to tell you ladies something that happen today. Around 3:30p.m. my two girls decide they wanted to take there bikes to library and look for some books, I told them it was fine. Well they had to cross by a school, there were alot of kids crossing at that time because school was letting out, anyway the crossing guard ask my girls what school they go to and they said they were homeschool, she said oh we can't cross you then. Now I find that weird! or is it just me.
Umm, what were your girls supposed to do - jaywalk or go out of their way to find an unattended cross walk?!
Would she have told an adult, who didn't attend the school, that she couldn't cross them? That's nuts. Not just weird - nuts.
that is what I was wondering. I found it really weird. yea Dalynn, I said to dh at dinner tonight do they tell a little old lady we can't cross you. I just never heard of it before.
That is odd! Especially when you consider the fact that you pay taxes that pay for her paycheck as well as those other children's education!
Did she maybe just mean that she would not be responsible for them.............nah...even that sounds NUTS. Weird. That just doesn't make sense. Maybe they should refrain from hiring crack addicts to be crossing guards. lol.
Why couldn't they have just blended in with the herd? I don't understand why she even asked them a question?
You know, they did away with crossing guards here. All students ride the bus or are taken to school by parents. Even though we live right beside the elementary school, jeannie would have to walk down the street in the opposite direction- same distance as from here to the school- and get on a bus that would take her to school.
Around here, you can only ride the bus if you live more than a half mile from the school. I would drive or walk my daughter. At the time, teachers took turns crossing the students. Now the schools have crossing guards.
That is really strange! I don't even understand why they would even ask! I was on a run the other day and the crossing guard stopped traffic just for me.
She told ask them because she has been crossing this area for 20 years she told them and never seen them before. So, I guess that is why she ask them.
the girls said they cross by themself then, and went on to the library but came back home a differnet way. I think they both were in shock and caught off guard they couldn't understand why. I still don't. There were tons of kids at that time, all over, I guess because she said she never seen them there before and wanted to know where they come from? But, still whats the different. I would like to talk to someone about it, but don't know who? Should I write a letter to the local paper? Call the school? or what?
It's probably some kind of insurance/liability thing - know what I mean? There's probably insurance on the crossing guards for their work through the school board/dept or whatever......That would be my guess.... Hmm, odd. I googled and found a pdf document titled "Crossing Guard Training Manual" from Nova Scotia (Canadian province close to mine) and it actually says in their manual: I wonder if there's anything like that available online for your area? It makes sense when you think about it.... I was guessing insurance/liability simply because there's always so much concern about that sort of stuff nowadays....but maybe there isn't... maybe this guard was just..like your title says, weird. edit: haha. I like how this manual is written
I wonder if women have to wear shirts underneath - I guess they don't mind saggy bumbies hanging out underneath! LOL I could take that job! LOL
well next time they have to cross the street just have them say that they are able to cross with out her........ its still just a corner. wether the kids are getting out of school or not. ( I mean if it had been 20 minutes later or half an hour eirlier that lady wouldn't have been there to help them cross)
Kris call the school then if they can't give you a good reason for her to say that then call the paper.
ya sounds weird our crossing guard didn't care. Then again she lived down the street from us in military housing.
yes, I was talking to a lady yesterday at the store and told her about it and she said that lady has been there for years and is really different, she doesn't know why they keep her. I plan on calling the school Monday and talk to them and ask them what the policy is. I don't want to start anything I just want to know. I want to know why she question the girls too? I know they look new but oh well.
