Math - Counting

    WHAT! You expect me to learn math ON TOP OF the history, science, Bible, sign language, Latin, and classic literature I'm already doing!!

    What am I? A third grader? :lol: :lol:

    Oh funny! I thought I was the only one that did points on the numbers! I sometimes STILL do them.

    We are doing Math U See with the kids and he does discourage counting, but I don't think it is a huge deal. I never had anyone show me how to really figure it out in my head and so I feel like I am learning so much with my first grader! How funny...

    I think it's natural for a five year old. Even though I didn't do it myself when I was that age. I had already had a system to count, add, subtract, multiply, and divide things in my head using imaginary tiles and eventually colored tiles for speed.
