DO you consider pajamas uniforms? Just kidding, no, I have never considered it. I'm not sure what the point would be if you are homeschooling.
we dont do uniform here but dd1 does miss her 'school clothes' so she has a t shirt which says ' yes i am home educated, yes i socialise, yes i did work today' she also has 2 plain tshirts which i am going to let her decorate however she likes
No uniforms here either, we've worn pj's, tshirts, sweats, etc. We don't even dress up or anything. I figure that it helps learn better if we're all comfortable!
When we met in Philadelphia, Deena's family (including adults!) had on matching t-shirts. This was their "school uniform", but I think it was only for "field trips" and such. I've considered making a logo for our school, and having it put on polo shirts to wear when we're out and about!
You mean we are supposed to get DRESSED???? Man - I'm telling you this is getting a LOT more complicated. Next you are going to tell me I need to get out of BED?!?! Ok - no - my kids wear what they want. Living on a farm we don't dress up very often. I wore nice jeans and a shirt one day and my dd asked why I was all dressed up
I am... going to have t shirts made too. Just with my web site name. But that has most our school stuff on it. I was thinking that for parents who have a hard time getting there kids to take home schooling seriously, uniforms (or certain school attire, hairdo etc.) might help bridge the school-no school gap.
maybe getting up and dressed is kind of a motivator for people. Like with the flylady.net that housekeeping guru who says to clean your sink every night. Get up make your bed, put on your face and put on shoes you have to tie. (so you don't kick them off, I guess) I do see her point. But my bed is not made and I just took ds8 to school wearing my PJ's and slippers...(I throw on a jacket to camoflage the fact I am not wearing a bra.) My biggest fear is that I will break down. DS11 (who is hs) usually puts on pants, but not a shirt and certainly not shoes. My kids hate shoes. we once had to buy shoes on a longish car trip because despite repeated reminders and even having the shoes in his hands...ds8 forgot to actually get them into the car. (we were going to a dentist appt. 2 hours away)
I have made the kids matching t-shirts for field trips, and our homeschool group sells shirts once a year with our lizzard logo, but I have never had the 10-12 for them ---- for each of us, though it would be fun they also have some catchy phrases too. I did buy the tote bag they were selling. my cousins had to wear a uniform for thier co- op, I thought that was a bit too much PJ's most of the time here.
mine have them, they asked for them but we only wear them on certain days. Special occasions and Uniform Day. hehe/
we dont have uniforms but we did have a lesson where we designed what we would have if we did have one.
we have our shirts designed but I ran out of iron on stuff so have to get that then we have shirts, colors and logos! Wee!
I know of a one Homeschool Mom, in NY. She has been homeschooling now for about 3yrs... Anyway, she has 2 sons, that she homeschools and they have a strict dress code. It even includes a tie. And they wear their uniforms every school day.
If we dressed in a uniform we would have a difficult time doing what we do and not getting our uniforms dirty.
