I know I am far from being the only one with this problem, but what I am wondering is where do they go?! I bought a large pack of red and blue pens for this school year. I also bought a bunch of paperclips. The blue pens have all walked away, while the red are still lingering a bit longer. My paperclips are down to a few. WHERE DO THEY GO????
the pens meet up with the paperclips, they take all the string and ductape and advance to the garage ( in my house) there they gather the spare socks because they need a place to hold up before disapearing in my daughters room!
Hmmm! Socks. That is something else that gets lost or misplaced! LOL Dana, if we still had goats, this would be the first place I would look!LOL They sure are something!
In my experience they end up under sofa cushions, down the forced air vents and in between beds and walls.
oh my dogs take them and write letters to other dogs and they can't work the stapler so they use paper clips...
Where ever yours go, mine are there to It is like one day you have a billion of those and next day POOF* do you ever miss the tacks also and rubber bands, UUUUG I am always buying them.
I've been sick lately, so a bit in need of liquids over here.. Just send some dehydrated water and we'll call it even.
I am always loosing pens, pencils, paperclips, kitchen clips, rubber bands, thumb tacks, and erasers....so my solution is this. I buy those items in bulk and put them in plastic tubs (the smaller shoebox size) each tub is labeled. Then when I start to get low in my smaller supply box before getting more from the shoebox I tell my children that for each Pen, paperclip, rubber band ect that they find I will give them each a penny. I have not bought ANY of these items since doing this....yes we've actually lost a few to the cats eating them, or getting swept up and thrown away but I still have MANY of what I started with last year in April. I have found that what I can't find the children are very good at finding because they fit in smaller spaces and often they are the ones hiding such things from me int he first place.
okay, now y ou owe me coffee! lol! Dehydrated water???? uh... sure uhm I mean, ya you really ahave been sick lately! Me too btw Lol i sther ea homeschool cold?
I love this idea! Paying them a penny a pen, or pencil in our case the pencils all disapear into the abis... ( dd's room) Although we did find like 7 in the heater vent, one I knwo I dropped in years back when trying to open a stuck vent back when the kids were reaaaaaaaaaaly tiny
It really works in our house...and my 4 and 5 yos will still work for pennies...because they know that 100 pennies buys them a toy at the dollar store.
Iv tried putting extras in totes, i even have a shoe holder behind bar to hold stuff but it vanishes then the extras do lol
Have any of you every seen The Sandlot? We will someday repeat the seen when the boys find all the baseballs, only ours will be pens paperclips, and in my case, handheld pincel sharpeners that I had a BUNCH of and now cant find ONE of... Ahhh...the dreams Sorry for the spelling...dd has been sick for 2 days and I haven't slept.
Birbitt, I love this idea!!!!!! Handsome has to go along with it too. I sometimes think he loses more pens than Ems. LOL
I usually do not lose rulers. Although it has happened on occasion. Today I realized that all of our erasers, the ones that go on the tip of the pencil, are gone.:? I bet the people at the dump come across a lot of the supplies that we lose. LOL
Funny that this thread is here today. I am in the process of reorganizing our school area. I found one of those spinning things that you put on your kitchen counter for utensils and decided to use it for my pens, pencils, etc. You would not believe how full that thing is now. I am alway hunting all over for a pen, pencil, and scissors. Now this thing is loaded with them! I do like the idea of a penny for a pen/pencil. Should try that with my kiddos. One thing we are forever losing are those pencil top erasers. When Staples had their sale at the beginning of the school year I bought a ton of those.
