First, I just let the children pick. They picked Twister Academy. Then later, I wanted something more official. You can use anything..a favorite person from history, a saint, anything. We were living on a hill and had a big oak tree so I thought about Oak Hill academy. We considered Da Vinci School or academy. Then eventually, we moved to a street called Lamplighter so we went with Lamplighter Academy. I also liked Lamplighter School, but there is a Lamplighter School about an hour from us so we were told by THSC that they would not print a diploma if it were the same name as another school. So we went with academy. We like academy also.
By George I think I got it.... Chandler Lane Academy Feedback please. Does it sound good? Not too cheesy? Too long, too short? Will it look good on a diploma? It's my boys middle names.
We use a Charter School so they came up with the name, and since we got new facilities this last year all the rooms are sort of named after the main name.
Thanks TeacherMom....*whew* it took me a whole year to figure that name out. They don't call me "quick" for nothing 'round here LOL. I was over- thinking it, I guess. The name was under my nose the whole time, sheesh.
Our school name has been Canyon River Academy for a couple years now. Canyon is the name of our road and we are close to a major river for this area. It sounded real good and it fits. It makes it easier for my oldest to identify as being part of a school. He needed to have some sort of name for homeschool to help him feel like he was a part of something. He attended public for awhile and still has that attitude of wanting to belong. So I actually let him help come up with the name of our school.
LOL!!! I LOVE that! We are not required to have one in Ohio...but I have toyed around a bit with one. My ds would tell people he went to Home Elementary...lol. I came up with Golden Apple Academy. It's after the verse in Proverbs about a fitting word is like a golden apple set in silver. I liked that it was..well...had apple in it..LOL..and it focused on having a positive tongue which me and my dd need to work on...lol.
I don't live close to anything fancy-schmancy to name our school after. It's not required, but would like to have an identity. We do have the Brazos River that runs through our little town.....other than that....um, let me see.....nothing! I live close to a nursing home, and a wheat field, and a retirement center ROFL!! Nothing catchy there
We live on Swan st....and I wanted the school to sound exclusive (which of course it is.) So it is Cygnet Preparatory Academy. The ugly duckling is our mascot...just kidding, but it is the idea around our school. The boys are going to do the middle ages this year, so we will come up with a standard and a coat of arms. I am hoping to do t-shirts. They couldn't decide last year on the mascot...something mean. Toss up between Dragons and Spartans. (or was it knights??) Anyway, I think Spartans are in the lead, but we will decide later. We had fun with it. (ok, maybe me...i love naming things...how many kids can I have?? is it wrong to have them just to name them? kidding.)
