Do you have a name for your school? If so, how did you come up with it? I know alot of people use their last name. We don't have one yet, but I need one. I don't think my last name fits well with anything LOL. It's Fetsch (pronounced: fetch). I've thought of different ones, but nothing sounds good to me.I want it to have a meaning, not just something I pulled out of the air, you know what I mean? I was just curious.

It fit and stuck for us!

Ours is "Thomas Jefferson Homeschool Academy," since my dh is a huge fan of TJ. It does cause some confusion, as there is a Thomas Jefferson Middle School in our community. I always wonder if the stuff I order will go to the wrong place!

We didn't start out with one since it's not req'd in VA...but this last year, my kids decided to use our last name and add Academy after it. We really don't "use it" but they like that better than our last name followed by Homeschool (when it would come on mail or something).

We have used Sloan Academy from the start. We were told to pick something that we would not want to change and there were suggested guidelines to follow so we just went simple and it works for us.

We had thought about using our street name but were told if we ever moved we had to keep the same name. I had to put our school name on our paperwork in the very beginning and they said not to use Elementary, Middle, High or anything we might want to change later on. I just wonder if other states rules are like that?

Our street name is very"poetic", so we could still use it if we moved. ;)

We're the "Way of Wisdom Homeschool". Don't use it much, but every now and then I write that when they ask for "school".

When we had to come up with a name quickly last year (I was hsing my 16 yo step-daugher in an emergency type of situation) I went with A+ Academy. All of our kiddos names start with "A" so it seemed fitting and academic sounding. Now it just sound cheesy to me so I would really like to change it. I think I can, in KS, but I want to do it before we officially start up in the fall. I don't want to have different names on different records. I would like to figure out something with more meaning.

When I started teaching my daughter at home I read something about states wanting names and since we are military I gave us a name. It's Cynthia Joan's Academy. It is named after my mom and my husband's mom. Oh and we have colors too. They are red, white and blue. My daughter wanted colors after telling her about my school colors and how the Navy is blue/gold. I am surprised we don't have a flag after coloring all of the state flags. :)

Okay this may sound funny but when I read you all up there saying you use your 'street name' I first thought, wow they have street names? As in 'street creds' etc. Lol, I sat here wondering what you would do with "D-boss' or something for a schools name!
Maybe I have not had enough coffee yet today, maybe it has to do with the town I live in haha!
When I startedhome schooling my 'nick' on a chat line was also Agape so it fit for us really well!
I suggest you think about what you want your school to represent, because there is always a form some place tha asks for a "school name" and with ours we can use the abreviations and such, we were the Agape Academy Angels for a while too!
That was our "team name" . Have fun with it!

Ours is Schlagel Family Academy, we call ourselves SFA Adventurers. It's not required here, but we thought it was fun. I have thought about having them pick colors too, but hubby says each has their own favorite color so we should just use them (green, pink, blue, and whatever Cameron chooses when he is older). We do have a mascot.. she is our beloved Dalmation.

We are Thornfield Academy. At first I couldn't think of a name. One of my favorite books if Jane Eyre and my rooster is named Mr. Rochester after Edward Rochester in the book. So we called our school Thornfield and our rooster is our mascot.LOL

Thornfield works well because we live in the desert and have a lot of thorns in the field next to our home.

After seeing this post I asked DD if she wanted to name the school. She said "Sure!" so I said what do you want to call it? she said Froggy ve-tis-te (university). I told her maybe we should put some thought in it. It was cute but the initials would be FU and when she says froggie it sounds like the "f bomb". Maybe we revisist the idea next year...lol.

Street names. Now that's funny! I can just see it now. ONE BAD MAMA ACADEMY. Yeah that would work.
