Oops- one more thing. I noticed they have a pregnancy/morning sickness tea or something like that in the Medicinal tea aisle (I use the "Throat Coat" tea when I get laryngitis). Anyway, if it is like the throat tea, the steep time is more than 5 minutes, so I brew a small teapot at a time and store it in the fridge. It is alot quicker to warm a small cup of tea than wait for the water to boil and THEN for the tea to steep! Just a suggestion if you try that....maybe that would be helpful in the mornings??

My nausea improved a little yesterday and I haven't noticed it today. I did eat better last night than I had in weeks which may be why I feel better today... I broke down and ate sushi. It's a no-no but I don't eat the raw stuff so it's really okay. The rice/veggies/meat rolls were easy on my tummy and the miso soup was just what I needed. I actually ate enough so I didn't get hungry again for 3 hours!

Anyway, I'm going in for an ultrasound tomorrow - I've been having some very light spotting so they want to check things out. I haven't been too worried about it, but it will be such a relief to know SOMETHING. I would LOVE to hear a heartbeat tomorrow, but it may be too early to pick it up. They also warned me that they may not be able to see anything at all even if everything is okay. My first ob appt isn't until the week after next and they normally don't do an u/s until the 18th week.

Amanda, the heart was beating even before you knew you were expecting. It's one of the first things to develop. So there's a good chance you'll get to hear it tomorrow. You're right not to worry about the spotting. Sometimes it happens, and usually it's nothing. The ultra sound is AWESOME, to see this little one (even though at this stage it doesn't look much like the "baby"). No matter how many kids you have, there's always the wonder of it!

I think the heart started beating around the beginning of last week (24 days after conception) but I've been reading that it sometimes can't be heard until 8-10 weeks since it's so tiny. But other people have heard it at this stage, so I'll hope for the best.

We've been keeping tabs on the development... My hubby says I have an alien inside me. ;) If things have been developing correctly, I think the baby will be visible since it should be a half inch long by now. I'm right at 7 weeks now (beginning of 8th). The nurse forewarned me not to be worried if we didn't see anything, but I know not seeing anything will not be ideal... of course I'll be worried.

Anyway, I'm most concerned about an ectopic pregnancy right now - I think that's what is prompting the dr. to go ahead and do the u/s. I'm right at the point where that would be causing this type of problem. I've also had an intermittent pain in the same spot on one side. And it's the same side that felt ovulation pains on.

I am staying cool... I know God is in control with whatever happens. Pray for my hubby though... He doesn't have the gift of faith like I do. It's harder for him.

    Congratulations!

If you are having an ultrasound you will be amazed at what all they can see! The drs will tell you not to get your hopes up about seeing anything but I think that is more to cover there hide then anything. With my son I had 12 ultrasounds. Starting at 6 weeks. He did look like an alien but there was this little thing on the screen that kept flickering...it was his heart.

Just know that God is in control and all will be the way it is supposed to be. Again congratulations!

Rachael was a year and half, sitting on my lap one night, when Faythe decided to kick REALLY STRONG. Rachael's eyes got SO BIG!!! I told her it was the baby saying hello to its big sister. And then the midwife had a WONDERFUL book that showed a woman dressed in her underwear at each trimester. You lifted the flap to see what the baby looked like at that stage. It was perfect for her!

:D When my Rachael was in my tummy I told Janie ( Beccas daughter) she was right. Dr. said she was a girl. She rubbed my belly and said I can't wait to meet my freind.
Amanda. Congrads!!!!!!!!! I will keep you in my prayers. Seeing my twins in sonogram was awesome.

Those stories are so cute! I can't wait until we have a baby kicking inside my tummy. Seeing twins sure would be an exciting thing!

I told my hubby that tomorrow will either be really exciting or really disappointing!! We're okay with it either way though. I'll probably dream about it all night!!

Amanda... the boys used to kick the remote control off my belly - that was neat for Tracy to see ;)

If you go to the Other Coversation threads, we started a thread just for you (What did you crave)... a light hearted look at what's to come (and the wild things we once craved).

lets not count the chickens before they hatch so to say and just pray that all her news today is good news, and be here for her if its not.

I was thinking about all this last night, and I had an ah ha moment, I figured out why I had the twins early...........(they came at the 27 week) when Samantha came out she didn't cry......she had a very low apgar score, I finaly now realize they came early so she could get the help she needed from the doctors....

I had the ultrasound earlier and everything looked great! It looks like a little peanut a this stage, but the heart is very visible. We could see it flickering at 133 bpm. It measured at 7 weeks 2 days, so it's right where it should be. Praise the Lord!

I don't know about any of that stuff! :)

Also, the pain I was having on one side may be due to a corpus luteum cyst that I have. I think that it is supposed to go away soon... It was really tender on that side when they were taking pictures of it. I didn't know why until later when the nurse said there was a cyst there.

My midwife said that the faster heartbeat IS a girl...about 50% of the time, LOL! How exciting, Amanda.

I bet it's a boy or a girl  that's what Andrew would say

I should know what the heart rates mean, but I don't remember - I'll have to ask and then get back to you on it (or maybe keep it a secret)

Wow, how exciting Amanda! CONGRATULATIONS!!! WooHoo! I absolutely LOVED this time of my life! I was so in awe of what was happening inside me without me knowingly doing anything to help it along! God is amazing to make our bodies able to do this kind of thing---He's allowing us to share in the creation process---How AWESOME is that?!!

I think I agree with Brenda's prediction. So I'll go out on a limb here and predict that it is either a boy or a girl!

I had all the time sickness with my second one. The dr. changed my vitamin, I took it at different times of the day, etc., etc. NOTHING worked! I finally quit taking the pre-natal vitamins, and took vitamins without iron--it was the iron that was making me sick. The baby was fine and I was fine, but I think they have things now that would work. With my first one, I had morning sickness for about two weeks. My dh and I had booked a Hawaii trip before we found out I was pregnant, and decided to keep it and go, even though I was kind of sick. after two days there I felt great, and felt that way the rest of my pregnancy! When I started getting sick with the 2nd one, I told my husband we needed to go to Hawaii, but he didn't arrange it. That's the one I was so sick with the whole time. I told him it was his fault for not taking me to Hawaii!!! :) So, if the other things don't work, and you still are getting morning sickness, GO TO HAWAII!!!

Anyway Amanda, this is a most awesome time in your life! Enjoy it to the fullest, cuz before you know it this little peanut is going to be a teenager!

Keep us updated on how things go!
