I have been struggling with my weight since I had my son 9 years ago. With each kid I have gained more weight. I have put on a total of 60 pounds in 9 years. I finally got serious about losing it and I started jogging/running 5-6 days a week. I have been eating healthier and in 2 weeks I have lost 14 pounds!! Waaahooo!!!

I just had to tell someone!!

WOO! Nothing feels better than getting healthy. It sounds like you're doing that HIIT, right? Not sure what it is but apparently it works like magic.

That is wonderful. I know you feel better. I wish I could run like when I was a kid. Just run for the fun of it. My old joints scream if I try that now. Keep up the good work.

Congrats! Please send some motivation my way.....lol I never dealt with extra baggage til my son....now it's like a vicious cycle...I get depressed about it and eat a ding dong...then I get more depressed for eating that...then eat a cookie, or 5 lol Ugh.

(The ding dong was just an example...we don't even have those in my house) lol

    Yay for you!

What made me decide to lose weight his when my ds' bought me a gold herringbone bracelet but it would not fit! I realized I needed to lose 40 pounds. When I lost the weight I put the bracelet on and have not taken it off since. That has been about 8 years now. My weight was from long winters, being a SAHM and of course eating more than necessary.

Way cool for you! Reward youself! Thanks for sharing! (((( ))))

I always wondered about slim in 6. I have tried so many DVD's and stuff like that and eventually I burn out. The only one I have found that I can actually do once a week without hating it is the Turbo Jam. I only do the Ab routine though becasue I burnt out on all her other routines. However I am really enjoying running, so I will keep doing that. Plus it seems to be working.

I have 50 pounds to still lose and my husband has decided to start joining me. He has put on over 100 pounds since we got married. Some of his weight is due to 2 car accidents that nearly killed him and he was bed ridden because of injuries for nearly 6 months each time. Anyways...he has already lost 10 pounds in 1 week so yeah for him! Yeah for us!

Thanks for all the encouragment!! I will keep posting once a weekish to let you all know how I am doing. At least I feel I have lots of people to answer to as to whether or not I am still losing weight!

becareful that sounds like a lot of weight in 2 weeks.

PS: I had all 4 of my kids in 3 years time and I could not get rid of the baby fat in between so I know how you feel.

I actually use the videos for variety. I do a lot of walking and traing the horses is a good work out. Some days are tougher than others lol.

Just thought I would post an update. I have to date lost a total of 17 lbs!!! YeeeHaw!! My pants are actually loose enough I am ready for to move down a size!! I think I just lost a ton of weight in the begining because my body was ready to get rid of the extra, but it's slowed down to a healthier amount of 3 pounds per week.

First, of all, CONGRATULATIONS! That is such a huge accomplishment, and you should be very proud of yourself!

I would like to start running/jogging. I started working out/practicing portion control on June 1st, and have lost 11 pounds so far. I'd like to lose another 10-15 pounds. I have been doing the 30 Day Shred videos by Jillian Michaels, and really enjoy them, but I've just felt the urging to start running/jogging in the last few weeks.

I guess my question is ... can you give me a rundown of how far/how long/how often you run? I have no idea where to start! I was going to do the Couch to 5K program (download prompts on your mp3 player, telling you when to walk and when to run), but I think I'd like something a little less structured. (I'm pretty sure that's the first time I've EVER wanted LESS structure. Haha.)

Again, congrats on the weight loss!

Good for you! Keep up the hard work! Please send some motivation my way! My hubby is taking me to Las Vegas mid October and I would like to at least get in shape and lose about 18-20 lbs. I got within a few pounds of my prepregancy weight with #2 a few years ago, but I put on 15 lbs in the last two to three years. Now, if I wanted to get back to the weight I was in college I would have to lose 30 lbs.

Earthymom- I got a great treadmill off of craigslist and I put it in my family room so that I can watch tv while running. Here is an average week for me (but remember that my schedule is all over the place and sometimes I am lucky to get in 2 days of exercise). I started with walking/jogging and I was so tired and winded in the first 5 minutes that I could hardly finish. I think it took about 3 weeks to get to where I could run a mile while still holding a conversation with my kids. I slowly added an extra 5 minutes every other day to my routine until I got to 3 miles. I can now do 3 miles in about 20-30 minutes, however I still go for 45 minutes everyday. I also do the turbo jam ab routine...it seems to be helping as well. I think the biggest reason I lost the weight from watching what I eat. I do not deprive myself of anythign because I can't diet. I just eat a portion about the size of my hand and I eat every 2 hours. Also, I eat oatmeal with flax seed and raisins every morning for breakfast. In fact my kids have been enjoying the oatmeal so much they now want it everyday with me.

I don't know if that all made sense, I am super tired....got back from camping yesterday and didn't get much sleep as my 4yo dd was throwing up all night.....if you need me to explain it more or want me to go more in depth let me know. :)
