I'm doing laundry and tackling cleaning zones 1 and 2 (living room/foyer/dining room/powder room). I don't reward myself for cleaning. Being able to walk through the house without being attacked by dust bunnies or stepping over various things and smelling the aroma of clean is enough for me. :D

Andrea, since you have "zones" does that mean you do Flylady? I'm on and off her wagon all the time!!!

I do a very, very scaled down version of FlyLady principles that works for me and my household. Though FlyLady is great, it was a bit much for me. I found I was becoming stressed and feeling disappointed when I didn't complete the day's tasks according to the site. I was just overwhelmed and became a FlyLady Flunkie . Now I just get dressed down to my shoes and complete my cleaning zones and that works quite well for me.

I'm a FlyLady Flunkie, too. I liked the concept, but found her e-mails rather manipulating - and I readily confess the fault mostly lies in my and my personal attitude and had nothing to do with her at all. They just pushed the wrong buttons in my I-hate-being-manipulated brain. Having said that, my house is a mess, and I need to get on SOME system!!

I have company coming tomorrow, though, so today I am cleaning everything! Where manipulation doesn't work, a deadline does! LOL I was going to start in the girls' room and in the living room and work my way to the front of the house, but my little one was pouring herself some grape juice and didn't realize the spout was turned "off". She tipped it all the way upside down and SWOOSH!!!! the lid fell off and grape juice went everywhere. And she, of course, walked through it 4 times on her way out of the kitchen to change clothes. So.... now I'm starting with the kitchen and dining room floors, and I'll work my way back to the carpeted rooms. LOL

Marilyn, I'm glad I didn't flunk alone! I think you just need to find a system that works for you. I realized that even though tons of folks were singing FlyLady's praises, it just wasn't working for me.

I very much understand the sticky spills. Mopping the kitchen floor wasn't part of yesterday's plan but it had to be done after a grape juice, apple juice, and chocolate milk spill.

Such things keep life interesting! Hope you got everything done!

Nothing today but keeping my head above water with dishes and laundry. I couldn't sleep last night so my priority has been to do nothing that makes my tired self turn into a monster mom. :)

I'm a Flylady flunkie! I did find the system worked best for me when I made the control journal and cut out the emails, but...I fell off. The emails mostly motivated me.

I cleaned the boys' room. My boys are 4 and 6, and I had them working with me. My 6 yo did an excellent job; half the time was spent fussing at my 4 yo to get up and work. <sigh> Trying to motivate them is sooooooooo much more exhausting than just doing it myself, but I am bound and determined...sometimes. <sigh> I also kept popping in and fussing at my 8 yo DD to get her room clean. She's headed to camp at the start of next week, and I told her she isn't going if she doesn't get the room clean.

But it's Friday, my husband went out of town Monday and got in late last night, and I am totally exhausted.

My parents are comming to visit in 4 weeks. And I have 4 major rooms in my house. So every week we are going to clean 1 room.

And by clean I mean everything. From dusting the fan to wiping down baseboards. We have been doing major slacking the last few months. So today and tomorrow we are working on the kids bedroom sorting toys and clothes getting craigslist items seperated from donation items and getting out the steam cleaner and doing the carpets. I have discovered I really need a smaller toybox. The kids can't reach the bottom of their toybox so half their toys they never play with. Next week is our bedroom. Which scares me ><
