I 100% believe in paranormal activity, but only because I've had experiences myself. Example: Pa used to chew Copenhagen. Loved the smell. He had passed away from cancer and a couple of years after he passed I was out in teh backyard spinning (don't ask, I'm weird like that) in the autumn breeze and I SMELLED his copenhagen. SMELLED IT! Like he was right next to me. Then I felt warm, and loved. Like a big hug from my Pa. It was so powerful I plopped down on the ground and cried. DH and I just got done watching one of our favorite shows "Ghost Adventures". I doubt, however, that there are ghost children. Why would God leave a child's soul in a type of purgatory hell on earth? An in-betweener? It just doesn't sound right. What do you think??
I never really knew where I stood on the issue because I had experienced some seemingly paranormal activity that I couldn't explain, but I felt like I'd be a bad Christian if I believed. Until a professor in the Bible department of my Bible college shared a few quick thoughts mid-lecture once. I believe that the idea of ghosts is supported, or at least allowed, by the Bible. I really am not in the mood for a debate about this today, but did want to let you know that you're not alone in believing.
Not really. I believe it might be possible but I also believe that probably about 95% of experiences with ghosts can be explained by natural causes.
I am 100% a believer, have been since I was 15. We lived in a real life haunted house, things happened there that I don't tell anyone because they look at you like you have 3 eyes. There have been many other instances which have confirmed my beliefs, but I don't talk about them to anyone other than those closest to me or who it would mean something to if they knew. PS, I don't like ghost adventurers, they feel too fake for me. I do like SciFi's Ghost Hunters, but even that one makes me question what they show.
Although I've never actually (to my knowledge) seen a ghost myself, after my mother died, I could've sworn I felt her presence in the house. The dog sometimes, however, seemed to be watching someone walk by - quite calmly, not reacting in any way that would convey that he was seeing someone who shouldn't be there. That kept up for a couple of years, less and less often. Years later, I found my birthmother. After her husband died, she swore that he would walk by the bed and bump the end of the mattress, like he used to do to tease her. My sister, brother-in-law, and others swore they saw him going down the hall, or walking through the house now and again. Nobody was ever afraid, because they just recognized Papa and knew he wasn't malevolent. Since Mama died, however, no one has seen either of them. No one has ever claimed to have seen my brother, who also died in the house.
I believe there are spirits, but I don't believe spirits of people who died roam the earth. I also don't believe that those who died know what goes on in the earth. I allow for the possibility of a person's spirit being on earth briefly after death though. If I remember correctly the Jewish tradition stated that a person's spirit remained next to the body for three days which happens to place greater significance on Jesus raising Lazarus after that time period.
I agree. I'm very interested in the paranormal and I don't discount that things DO happen and people DO see/hear/smell/feel things. A lot IMHO, can be the human brain. It is much more powerful than many of us realize. The slightest thing can 'spark' something and our brain/subconscious can trick us into seeing/hearing/feeling/smelling things. Then the rest I attribute to demons and angels. Yes demons. The Bible tells us the devil is a liar. I do think very often, when we are vulnerable, a demon will do something that will remind us of a loved one who passed. I have seen things. But, I attribute everything I've seen to my own brain or demons. That's my 2 cents.
Ive had too many things happen to me to NOT believe! I am the first one to say that i will go try to debunk every experience and some i have but others...........like seeing an apparition of a little girl in front of me...........can not be debunked! we lived in one house. the first house we bought and my hubby could NOT sit in there by himself after hearing stomping coming from upstairs (no piping up there it was drift heat) and the dog growling and something at the bottom of the stairs while the stomping was going on, and my oldest dd was terrified of the upstairs in that house as well! we heard little girls laughing, things were moved and thrown in front of us, and i could go on and on lol
When my wife was a small child, she lived quite close to her grandparents. I believe it was her grandmother's father whom the children called 'gramfer'. Often, he would go to her room in the evening to wish her good night. As my wife tells the story, this happened one evening just like any other. He opened the door, wished her goodnight, and then closed the door. Only later did she learn that he'd died an hour or so earlier. Too many people have had experiences of this type to rule them out. Indeed, in India, many accept the spiritual, supernatural world and actually doubt the reality of our physical existence. Just because the Bible doesn't address a phenomenon in detail doesn't mean that the phenomenon isn't real. This is true of several topics, in fact. Some rule out the possibility of life elsewhere in the universe because the Bible doesn't mention it, but it's not necessary to come to that conclusion.
Yes, I believe in ghosts. However, I don't believe they are the souls of the departed. I believe they are a manifestation of the spirit or personality of the the departed.
I know the Bible says that we are surrounded by an invisible spirit(ual) world. It has quite a bit to say about "unclean spirits". I know it says that we are not to seek to communicate with the dead or have anything to do with witches. But I don't think it addresses poltergeists, apparitions, etc., that we're talking about here. I prefer not to watch shows about hunting ghosts, talking to ghosts, Medium, Ghost Whisperer, hauntings, celebrity ghost stories, proving or disproving that a place is haunted, any of that stuff. I'd rather watch shows about pawn shops, auctions, etc.
Not sure if it is being called a "ghost", but I did experience smell things also, few times actually, on different occasions connected to different people. And once - with no people connection, but I believe as an answer to my thoughts. Explaining the last one: I was driving on high way, through dusty construction, and just thinking how to make peace with one of my friends whose "skeleton" accidentally was just taken out of a closet and it was pretty dirty and ugly, that "skeleton" and my friend's secret, it was shocking news. Anyway, I am driving and thinking of if I should even talk to him anymore, and then like a lightening a thought arrived into my brain: your business is not to judge anyone, but treat everyone with respect and love and compassion no matter what. At this very moment my car filled with delicate wonderful fragrance SO ENJOYABLE and peaceful. I was passing dusty road construction sight, and before could smell the dust. But in a moment at all changed, and I enjoyed that mysterious fragrance, until my brain started racing: what is it? where did it come from? did I use perfume this morning? It can't be1...etc. and smell went away. But from than and on if my ego wants to judge someone - I say to myself: hey easy, stop and remember, God once talked to you saying what He wanted from you. That was pretty powerful.
This I can agree with. The vast majority of experiences...? I'm probably skeptical because I'm prone to seeing/smelling/hearing things that aren't there. I remember being a retail clerk and hearing the radio playing very softly. I went to turn it off and it wasn't on. That's not unusual for me. I think my brain takes background information and concocts tidy patterns to make sense of it. I suspect if I were a different sort of person I might interpret things differently. But there are some things that we haven't got an explanation for yet, like your wife's experience.
Sure I believe. As its part of the Nicene Creed which is part of the Anglican faith to believe in all things visible and invisible. I also have seen and know plenty of people who have seen ghosts/apparations etc. I do believe we shouldn't seek them out. I think we aren't meant to know or understand and I try to steer clear whenever possible.
I'm still undecided. I once heard it said that because God is three persons and we are created in His image, that man has also has three forms-body, soul, and spirit. If that's true, it's possible that our spirit would remain on earth with the people we love??? My husband says he has seen one and I kind of believe him after he and his sister on separate occasions described to me seeing the same thing. But, my dad would have loved to have seen one and never did. I really hope I never do...
I was very close to my mother's mother. We called her Mam. She lived in a little house next to us from right before the twins were born until she died when the twins were around 20. She was a florist and a wonderful gardener. Her flowers were beyond belief! One day not long after she died (in my arms in the hospital) I was out in my front yard and as clear as a bell I heard her call my name just like she had done hundreds of times before. She would come out in her front yard and see me and call my name to get me to come see a flower or to tell me something she wanted to share. It was not scary or anything. Just a wonderful moment. One of our daughters spent the night with Mam a lot and eventually moved into the little house Mam had lived in. One night she felt someone sit on the side of her bed and she was not afraid. She just knew it was Mam coming to check on her. Call it whatever you like, but it was a comforting thing not a scary thing at all.
