When dd was 3, she saw a pic of dh's g-father for the first time. She got all excited and said, "that's the silly man who sings the song to me at night!" The song she mentioned had indeed been Grandaddy's favorite song before his death. She also seemed to always carry the scent of my great grandmothers perfume on her at night. and on one occasion, I went into her room when she was about 5 months old to get her up from her nap, and she giggled and reached out to someone I couldn't see, and when I moved into her line of sight, she fussed and tried to look around me. That was the first time I ever felt a "presence" or a warmth around me. So really, my daughter made me a believer. I never was until she was born.
While we are on the topic of strangeness what about reincarnation? My ds was two when he told me his little sister (who was a baby) had fallen in the creek and drowned and he couldn't save her. The strange thing is we had never discussed drowning but have several ancestors who did.
We inherit little habits and talents from our parents. Most are probably learned, but others could be genetic in origin. What about the patterns in our brains when we develop in the womb? Might it be possible that, as we develop, some memories from the parent find their way into the embryo's brain? I have no idea BTW, and I've not even researched this, but the point is that there are potential biological explanations for such incidents.
All you Bible scholars out there might be able to help me out, but isn't there a passage that talks about us each being given one life and one death? I realize that this isn't meant to be a Christian thread, but the Bible is my source for answers. The ghost question isn't specifically addressed in Scripture. There is room for it. Reincarnation, however, I think is... if memory serves me correctly.
Thats true genetic memory could explain things like that for sure. I know we are only scraping the tip of the iceberg as they say when it comes to unraveling the mysteries inside us. God sure made some complex artwork
