I think we've all gone through this at some point or another. My middle son sits on a ball sometimes. He's gotten a lot better this year, I think maturity does help. I'm sure he has some sort of ADD, ADHD or SPD....but, I don't want it diagnosed b/c in PA it opens a whole new can of worms. So...I'm sure it's mild enough in our instance.

NEVER underestimate how diet effects behavior!!!! NEVER. My oldest is sweet, calm, peaceful, focussed and works hard. Give her something with red dye in it and she becomes a person you do not even want to know, let alone be around. I call it Hyperactivity Obnoxious Disorder! She even said that she doesn't even know what comes over her, and she is screaming in her head to stop herself but cannot.

We avoid ALL red dyes, and most other dyes if at all possible, just in case. We also avoid High Fructose Corn Syrup (no, sorry, not believing the whitewash advertising they're trying to put out there....).

I'm about to pull dairy from my oldest to see how that helps her...she's been having a lot of stomach issues lately, so we're going to give it a try and see what happens.

I know it's a lot of stress to think about dietary changes while you're going through what you're already going through with the move....but maybe just make sure you're avoiding things like dyes and sugars?

    You can get through this!!!!

I still unschool my 2nd son (3rd kid), but both of my boys are very VERY active. I try to send them outside for 10-15 mts before starting schoolwork. I'm also comfortable sending my younger (going into 2nd grade) son outside while my older two are doing more focused schoolwork. This keeps them separate and helps burn off energy. We take another break at lunchtime, and then after our midday rest time (I have them lay down and read for 2 hrs after lunch, which is when I get my [paying] work done), they are all sent outside for an hour. Unless it's pouring. But if they've been driving me crazy enough, sometimes even then, though not for an hour and only if it's sprinkling. XD

Neither of mine have ADHD, but I focus on the "burn out their energy" factor.
