Geeze, I don't know why some names are bold and others are not. That was not how I thought I had ityped it in, they should have all been the same, sorry about that!
Truth is, homeschooling WAS the norm a way back when!!! That's why so many of the great minds were so great!
Don't most young actors/actresses homeschool to a certain extent anyways though? So many of them have tutors or do homeschool. I agree though, truth is, homeschooling was very common back in the day.
I would imagine a lot of child actors and schoolaged olympic atheletes would have to be homeschooled. My neice is a competition gymnast (low level, not olympic yet! LOL ) and she always talks about how it would be great to be homeschooled. She did just move up a level and is now at the gym 4 days a week for 2 1/2 hours each. The next level she'll be there 5 days a week for 3 hours. How will the poor girl fit in school AND homework AND gymnastics? My sister doesn't have the patience or desire, oh well. She says all the time how jealous she is of my daughter!
That's really sad for your neice Krista- though if mom isn't into it, it wouldn't work very well anyways.
wow, thanks for sharing printing it off to send to my family and show them it's not something new alot of people have done this before.
I just found these from an older post: Famous Home-Schooled Children: Isabella and Connor Cruise; Children of Tom Cruise . . . The Cruise children are tutored by Tom's sisters Frankie Muniz - child actor LeAnne Rimes - teen-prodigy country music singer Whoopi Goldberg - actress Hanson - sibling singing group Jennifer Love Hewitt - actress Venus and Serena Williams, Tennis Michele Bolton Singer Spencer Breslin, Actor 8 years old and starring in Disney's "The Kid," "The Cat in the Hat," "Raising Helen," and "The Santa Claus Part 2." Famous Home-school Parents. Garth Brooks, Singer John Travolta and Kelly Preston Actors Duane G. "Digger" Carey Current NASA Astronaut Will and Jada Pinkett Smith Actors Darrell Waltrip, NASCAR Racer And the Crown Jewel... Joyce Reed, Associate Dean of the College, Brown University Since my lifelong career has been as a professional educator, people are frequently bewildered when they learn that my five children did most of their learning at home until they entered colleges and universities that suited their interests. How did I do it, they ask?
Oh, How could I forget Lisa Whelchel, she even has a website. http://www.lisawhelchel.com/ Geeze I remember when she was on The Facts of Life! How weird is that!
She is great. I used read her journals every week, but she isn't posting any right now--a sabbatical I think she said. I have 2 of her books--Creative Correction and the homeschooling one.
I know this post is for famous homeschoolers, but I do know of a young man that was homeschooled all his life, when he "graduated", he passed his GED and then on to college. He completed 4 years of college, he then completed his schooling and is waiting to take his bar exam (to be a lawyer). He just received notice that he has been accepted in the Air Force "Jag" (not sure of spelling) program. That is the legal part of the Air Force. His goal is to be accepted in the FBI after his stint in the Air Force.
