My daughter loves the fact that Bindi Irwin (dd of Steve "crocodile Hunter") is hs. Steve was someone she always wanted to meet (still very upset over his passing).
If I remember correctly (from the tour guide) you could say that Andrew Johnson 17th president was homeschooled. He had no formal education until he got married and his wife, Eliza, taught him to read and such.
From modern day... Tim Tebow, football player for Gators. I'm not into football, but the revelation that a Gator was homeschooled helped elevate homeschooling in the view of some of my family who are now Floridians.
