I was hoping to add a handwriting program for my 1st grader. We tried Handwriting without Tears last year and it wasn't his style. He has pretty good writing so far.... (And he barely reading: cat, sat, sam, jam, ect....)
We used A Reason For Handwriting. It worked really well for dd. She much preferred their 3 line approach to HWT 2 line approach.
I like Pentime. It's very similar to the older Zaner-Bloser (with curls) that I was taught back in the 50s. I haven't done the first grade one, but the third and up has a page of letters/words to copy, then a page of copywork. We do just one page a day, so one day practice, the next day copywork. You can see samples at www.milestonebooks.com
I use Startwrite software and make my own. For cursive I'm having Rylee watch these videos. The lady reminds me of an old prude, but she is better at explaining than I am for sure. I wish I could find videos like them for printing.
