Well, DD7 is making her first lapbook!!

Decided since we couldn't fit in a trip to the library today to look at some of the book ideas....that I'd explain & show her what a lapbook was....or at least what I had as a sample (from sister's co-op class).

We dug thru and found a file folder (we just moved the end of Oct and some things are still in the garage). I read her 2 chapters of the Magic Treehouse book she picked out to get her started and motivated. She worked so hard, she just realized its 1:21pm and she missed lunch (she firmly believes lunch should always happen at noon sharp if not before....from her ps days).

She read chap 3 by herself and has the outside done (with help from Mommy)...a picture of the book, the title written out and a picture of Mt. "V" from Pompeii in real life today.

Inside she drew Jack and Annie's heads and has them springing out with folded paper and has some sheets for the info she's learning. Hopefully she'll have enough room for things from Chap 4-10 (or we'll be attaching another folder and that'll mess up her outside design...lol.

So if she can just keep up the enthusiasm for the rest of the chapters, this lapbook will be a success...thanks for the ideas! Hopefully this will help hold her interest a bit more. She is my artsy one....unfortunately, that also makes her "art" projects bring out her perfectionist tendency (which doesn't exist in most of the rest of her life).....so an art project can drag out FOREVER....lol. But in this case, as long as she's reading....let it drag on.
