Update: Found out a day or so ago that this Great Uncle of mine has MRSA! He will be in the hospital for at least another 2 weeks minimum. AND, my cousin who stayed with them to help out for a week w/ her two small children is understandably concerned with the health and well-being of her own little family now, since this MRSA is dangerous and extremely contagious. She and the children made it back home to SC safely. Here's a link to a news article I ran across today: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16691062/ MY Mom and grandmother have visited him in the hospital several times, not really knowing what he had and hugged him every time, I'm sure. I realize you can't catch it just from exposure (I'm a Health Educator) but those w/ weakened immune systems or w/ an open sore, cut, scratch, chapped skin, etc. are at risk. Of course my main concern is for my Great Uncle, but I can't help but also worry about the rest of my family too. I know, worrying does nothing, but it will help me to know someone else may take just a moment of their day to lift this up in prayer. It brings heartfelt tears of thanks to my eyes just typing this, because I know some of you have and will pray more fervently over this than I have or will!!! Thank you so much! And my cousin said my Great Uncle/ her Grandfather DOES have pneumonia and had a particularly rough day today. So please, please continue to keep my family in your prayers. I'm so grateful for all of you even though I may not always take the time to show it. Bev
that sure is a lot going on in a family. (sounds like mine at times). I'll pray for everyone's safety.
You and your family will be in my prayers. I am sorry all this has come so close together for you all. Beth
Praying here, too, for your family. So much to deal with in such a short time! Btw, my parents also live in Central Florida and, thankfully, are doing fine and no damage to their home. A friend however, cannot be reached and we are not sure if it is because the power outage, or if they are missing. We should be praying for everyone involved in that tragic devastation.
Praying here, too. We all do need prayer every day. Please do not hesistate to ask. Praying for all my hs forum family.
Thanks so much to everyone for their prayers! Update: Cousin-in-law (?) that had the truck accident didn't even have to stay overnight @ hospital. No broken ribs, thank goodness, but truck still totaled. Distant Great Aunt is accounted for and I think the word was that her home was safe as well. I didn't realize this, but she lives IN The Villages! The retirement community that was hit so hard. I'm so glad she's alright and have all others in that area in our prayers. Haven't heard directly, but traveling cousin et al. must have gotten to TN safely, we would have heard otherwise. There is snow, but just talked to mom and she said the roads were clear. Man! They are a lot to keep up with, but I'm so grateful to have a large, fairly close-knit, extended family! Thanks again!!!! Bev
My parents also winter in central Florida. I was unaware of anything until my MIL called, asking about them. When I reached them, they told me that several of their Ohio friends called to inquire about them. They were about 50 miles away from where it hit.
Such a tragedy. I am glad your parents are ok, Jackie, as well as your family, Bev. To see the pictures on tv...it's just unbelievable all the damage that was done.
Bev, I just saw this and am praying! I agree with the other ladies: Never hesitate to ask for prayer. Our prayer lists can go on forever--God can handle that!!! I hope things work out well for your family! I too have a very large extended family (My mom had 11 brothers and sisters (10 lived to adulthood), and my dad---well, his mom married 4 times and with step, half and whole brothers and sisters, he has 32! I am not close with all of them though---main reason being there are just so many and we're spread far apart, the other being, I have never met some of my dad's step-brothers and sisters. I have 64 real/full-blood cousins, plus all the others from my dad's steps and halfs.............Sheesh, just too many to keep up with! Will continue to pray for you and your family!
