Hi. I have a quick opinion question on grammar. My second grader will be finished with First Language Lessons level 2 in about a month and I was just considering what to do next. We'll only have about 3 months left of school at that point, so I'm thinking about just spending that time reviewing the concepts we've learned. Then again, I don't know if it's better to move on to the next book, which according to the website also reviews concepts already learned. When you finish a book do you normally move onto the next level or just review the rest of the year?
I continue to the next one unless I am close to the end of the school year. With 3 months left I might continue to the next one.
I'm with everyone else. I'd keep on moving with this much time to do. 2littleboys, this is OT, but... I noticed you have Lego Engineering down. Is this what you're classifying their Robotics league as, or is it some kind of curriculum you have?

He's in the lowest class, so they're not using robotics a whole lot just yet (a little, but he doesn't have any at home to practice on). At his level, it's mostly just teaching how to create structure types so that you can integrate those into your own creations. They learn technical words and elementary physics like ... hydrolics and pneumatics, how to make pulley systems, and stuff like that. The class he did last semester was called pre-engineering (ages 5-7). We're not doing it again this semester because (1) the location was about an hour's drive for us, (2) it's expensive, and (3) his friend and he decided they'd rather get together every Friday for *ahem* P.E.X., which means "P.E. with x-box (kinect)". :lol: Goofy kids! There are a ton of lego classes and camps in this area, though. We'll probably do one again next year. He LOVED this one!!!
We did robotics last year, and Phillip LOVED it! His team did VERY well for a young, first-year team. But the guy who led it decided against doing it again and donated the stuff to the elementary school. Sigh.... Oh, and today we were going over words with the Latin root for FIRST...PRIM or PROTO. We had ten words in the book, and I decided to add another...PROTOTYPE. Phillip said, "I know that word! I was in charge of making the prototype on the robotics team...."
