Today's lesson was focusing more on bringing life to our homes. I feel inclined to post one bit of it, in particular.
    Mary Challenge:
Ask your family what makes them feel the most loved when it comes to you caring for your home - ask them to be specific o that you can begin (or continue) to give life to your domain.

    Martha Challenge:
Kitchen - Dust tops of refrigerator, cabinets, and shelves. Clean and shine the outsides of drawers and cabinets.

[I have decided to skip Sundays. There are several reasons for this. First, I don't want anyone to feel bad about skipping the mission (or like they have to catch up) if they have a moral aversion to working on Sunday. Second, several people jumped in on day 2, and others are "behind." Thirdd, many of us have buy schedule, especially in the Summer months. Only posting mission six days a week makes this process a little less stressful. I don't want anyone to get stressed and quit. Please don't take this as an out for procrastination. That's not helpful to anyone.]

Wise decision, Amie. I'm actually considering buying the e-book.

Good decision Amie, I was thinking, just that everybody needs a break, Sunday or not.

We just read/did the 5 love languages book. My husbands is act of service and one thing he feels loved by is when I make the effort to clean his coffee pot and the area around it. And he loves the bed made, I on the other hand unmake it each time I get in. That is what I thought of when it said to make the family feel loved by cleaning. I am not sure my kids would say anything about it, because they are little.

ok, I am behind and going to play catch up tomorrow.

But dang. I have a GORGEOUS, HUGE kitchen. It is going to take half the morning to wipe the cupboards and stuff..

    Ok, whine over.

I'll do it, but I won't like it.

Oh I would give anything to have a huge kitchen - mine is sooooo tiny and half my problem....its only 9 feet by 7....no room to swing the proverbial!

ok, so I scrubbed the cabinets and drawers etc. this morning. I wiped down the tops of them and washed all the glass ware I keep up there. It took me two hours. But everything is all clean and sparkly right now. :) The fridge is wiped down on the outside too. The whole kitchen smells like murphy's oil soap, which is what I use on the wood.

It looks good. I am just taking a break and then I will get to the inside of the fridge.

I'm planning on posting pictures when I get it put back together.

I am generally super thankful for my big kitchen. I love it. It is my favorite room in the house. The only time I grumble is when it is time to clean it!

Hey, does your kitchen end up with grimy STICKY grunge on stuff?

It seems like the dust is sticky. Nasty.

I don't do any "major" housework on Saturday or Sunday, so eventually I will fall behind. Now if hubby works on Saturday mornings I will do some housework, but usually weekends are just dishes and making sure we don't get condemned.

It's from us cooking.. so maybe we should not cook anymore..lol

Acutally that Awesome cleaner I mentioned before (I think it's called Totally Awesome) is AMAZING for cleaning the kitchen!! It cuts that greasy sticky grime off of everything! You can buy it at Walmart or Dollar Tree.

I've always used Murphy's because we have really nice wood cabinets. Will that stuff affect my finish?

Hubby details cars and uses it all over the vehicles if he needs to.

Here is my sparkly clean kitchen...

I'll keep the Dawn in mind for next time, crazymama

All the glass ware and stuff had to be removed and cleaned. That took awhile.

I love the whole thing, I would love to have anything half that size. My kitchen is the size of your island! I like the bird poster too, I was looking for one to put by our kitchen table because we have bird feeders hanging out the window. We like to watch the birds eat while we eat.

The counter is six feet long. I love it cause I sew and that is where I cut. I've cut wedding dresses there without an issue. I also like the fact that I can talk to guests without the kitchen proper being crowded. I was standing in my dining room when I made that pic. (eat in kitchen) WE can comfortably feed 10-12 in the kitchen/dining room.

The bird poster is awesome. My dd 6 bought it for me for Christmas. My ds 3 can already identify some of the birds on it, which was my goal. I've told my dh if he ever tries to move me out of this house, he will have to take a chainsaw to the kitchen, as it is coming with me.
