This Saturday, 4 days from now, at 6am we leave for the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina!!! I am so beyond excited about this trip I can hardly contain myself! This is HUGE for us. Our past trips were very fun although not as far away and we camped which is more work and more stuff to haul. We are a very outdoorsy and adventurous family so camping is our thing BUT this is HUGE for us! Our plan is to leave Houston on Saturday morning at the butt crack of dawn and head I10 east. We will drive as much as we can and get as close to Atlanta as we can by Saturday night, then get a motel room. Sunday morning we will leave and head to Dillsboro North Carolina. We have a two bedroom, two bath house with a hot tub rented in the mountains by a river! We can check in at 3pm on Sunday. We plan to get there and just veg out the rest of the day. Unpack and explore and enjoy each other. We have 6 nights there with no real plans other than to enjoy each other and the area. Smoky Mountain NP, Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee Reservation, small town shopping, white water rafting, amusement parks - the works! Ihave been checking the weather and it has been in the 50s at night! We will be back home late on Sunday the 31st. I have maps and brochures and cameras for the kids. I have made a packing list for Sam and will help Grace pack. They each get to bring a backpack with things to do in the car, a pillow and blanket. We are going to bring a small cooler and some snacks to cut down on stops along the way. We have a huge car so they can spread out and not kill each other on the 15 hour drive. Sam also plans to send all of her pen pals post cards from the road. Woo Hoo! Just had to share my excitement!!!!
Oh dear.. it sounds like a great trip.. but you better not head west or you will never get close to Atlanta..lol You must be really excited to head in the wrong direction...lol
How exciting!!! I love, love, love the smokey mountains. We went there almost two years ago and had the best time. I wish we could go back every year. I enjoyed it MUCH more than the beach where we usually go every year. I hope you have a super good time and enjoy the cabin.
Oh man don't forget to stop and pick me up on the way ok. We are going to miss you girl. Have alot of fun.

3 days to go Today was cleaning day. And boy did we clean. We cleaned everything in this house. All furniture was dusted, all floors were swept, mopped and vaccumed, both bathrooms were scrubbed top to bottom and all bedding was washed. I hate to come home to a dirty house so Samantha and I made sure it was spotless. Tonight both girls have dance classes and we are eating leftovers. I made a big pot of homemade chicken soup last night so we could eat on it for two days. I don't want any food left in my fridge when I leave. Anway I am still counting down and ready to go!
