Normally I'm not a tester. Unless their book has a test or something (like in Latin sometimes.) But I do not test at the end of the year. Usually I just know where there at in their learning. What we need to work on and what they've got down.

But since we're moving into Jr. High this next year I was thinking of testing my 6th grader to see where we're at on everything in her brain.

Does anyone have a testing program that will test everything? Something free? Or something I can pick up at Mardels? I don't know. It's just a thought but my child tells me she isn't scared of tests (unlike my older child) so I thought why not? Not something i want to do every year, but just this once as we're heading into Jr. High...

If you're talking about some kind of annual achievement test, then no, there are no free ones and nothing you can pick up here and there. There are Metropolitan, Stanford, CAT, TerraNova (a newer kind of CAT), Iowa. Hewitt (google Hewitt Homeschool) has one they made themselves specifically for homeschoolers, that only goes up to 8th grade. There's one called Test Point, which is supposed to be a placement type test rather than an achievement test. There's Basic Achievement Skills Inventory available from Family Learning Organization. But all of them cost. Most you can order to give at home, or locate a qualified tester.
