I am trying to get a good Math book for my 7th grader for next year. Any ideas will be fine? I was even thinking if I could find a good web site to print off worksheets would be good also. We have used Abeka but was going to try something different. Any suggestions will help.

I'm very partial to Teaching Textbooks (Phillip is in 7 right now), but it's pricey.

My dd13 loves, loves, loves Life of Fred! She is not a "math kid" but the style of writing and humor in the book make it work for her. I highly recommend it. Also, it's pretty inexpensive. I found our book on Amazon for about $30 with shipping.

Teaching Textbooks! It is pricey, but it's the one curriculum that I've found that is worth it!

I, too, am extremely partial to Teaching Textbooks. It has made a BIG difference in my house. I LOVE it!!! My oldest is about a month from finishing 7 (she tested out of the first few chapters b/c they were mainly review). I'm planning on buying the new Pre-Algebra (it grades! whooo hooooo!!!).

Anyway, I would totally recommend this. But if you're interested in it, I would check www.teachingtextbooks.com and have her check it out. Then have her take the placement test for 7 and then for Pre-Alg...coming from Abeka, you'd probably end up being able to skip 7th and go right to the Pre-Algebra.

    :)

I loved the Teaching Textbooks we used. I have the Pre Algebra set for sale but it is NOT the one that grades for you. If anyone is interested send me a private message please. I also have the cds for TT 6 and 7 for sale.

Beth, I'm not sure what you mean by that. So it's like the upper-level stuff where you have to check it by the answer book, as compared to the lower level stuff where you answer on computer and it tells you the score?
